    That definitely did surprise me

IMO Borlase is unlucky as he has done nothing wrong when coming in. He won't ever be a star but he is certainly a serviceable key position defender that can hold his own and would cost virtually nothing as he is ooc and as yet, no new contract has been presented.

Tom Clurey still being on our list would probably surprise a few, if they knew who he is

    SANFL 2024 -- Round 6 Wrap-Up

Hi Footy fans... We're now a third of the way through the 2024 SANFL Premiership Season and as happens from year to year there is usually a change of the order, so lets look at that first up. The Bulldogs have been probably the biggest mover in the last couple of years, rising from near the...

Player Watch Pick #29 (2012) - Tom Clurey

Clurey is a 3rd tall defender who is now in the break glass in an absolute emergency category at best at AFL level, whether it is of his own volition or it's just another of kern's brainwaves, trying to reinvent him as a wingman is absolute BS that is doomed for failure. A smart club...

Player Watch Pick #29 (2012) - Tom Clurey

Clurey signed the contract extension (which he’s now on) at a time he had been a depth player for a while. There’s no way he’s on a big contract, he would be on peanuts unless they had to pad it out to make the cap minimum.

Player Watch Pick #29 (2012) - Tom Clurey

Bill Simmons does a worst contract podcast in the NBA and I reckon Tom Clurey would be up there for the AFL. Hopefully he is on decent money and not biggish money. The contract seems to be an albatross and it looks unlikely that he will break into the 23. He's backup and looking to change...

Player Watch Welcome to Port Adelaide Esava Ratugolea, Finally

McKenzie in 2020 and 2021 was elite. Was rarely beaten and then only occasionally by guys a weight and height division above him. Had he been expected to play third tall instead of on the biggest and best of the gorillas, and if the injury gods had smiled, I'm convinced he'd be considered a...

Player Watch Welcome to Port Adelaide Esava Ratugolea, Finally

Sorry I have to come to Tom C’s defence. In June 2019 he kept Hawkins markless and goalless in our defeat of Geelong at the AO. I think it was a low scoring scrap. Importantly in May of 2021 he copped his broken jaw against the WB’s and has never been the same reliable defender since...

...be a good start. Josh Sinn is a good example. Is playing behind Lachie Jones, Jase, Houston, etc. Only played because of injury to Jones. Tom Clurey will go cheaply and will help with North's KPD depth. Also Tom McCallum is also gettable for a KPD youngster. Adelaide have a James Borlase as...

Players you are surprised are still on an AFL list

Tom Clurey from Port Adelaide surprises me. Ever since the first shutdown season, he's had massive staying power. Doesn't stand out like Robbie Gray or Stuart Dew.

There's a line between optimism and delusion and you have crossed it as the players are mentally weak and that's one of the reasons they have lost so many finals and big games over the last 5 years.

...without getting much if any support from having mature players around him. Re that lack of support why eg is a 100 game defender in Tom Clurey being wasted on a wing when common sense suggests he would be of better use as the general in defence to help the development of the younger blokes...

2nds Crows vs Port Adelaide - Round 5 @ Adelaide Oval

If only we had an experienced, 100-game AFL defender like Tom Clurey down there to take some pressure off the young backs (im not watching, just assuming hes on the wing again).

Game Day Round 8 - Port v Crows - Showdown 55 (Chug Jug Edition) (Go Port)

How have you watched Port over the last decade and honestly think the ins and outs make a scrap of difference. Look at the difference in quality between the two teams 'on paper' over the past 2 years - yet crows have still won 3 of those 4 matches.

...heck me dead. Dropped for being s**t/not putting effort in Burton's case, and straight back in after one week. heck this club seriously. Mac and cheese anyone could do that role. Evans is better if he's available. Anasta. Timid tom clurey. Anyone. Burton really learned his lesson I'm sure.
