...all it took to put him out for a third of the season.
- We have an elite AA level defender with a booming kick in Balta who, alongside JoshGibcus and potentially Luke Trainor if we draft him, as well as Tom Brown, will form an amazing defence for the next decade, the latter half of which...

Next year ... no injuries ... and we are a finals team ... injury to MRJ hurts a lot as he was just starting to work it out ...Graham and Short should be moved on ... we get compo the year after for Baker if he walks as a free agent, so keep him to his contract... Balta is a backman ... play him...
A fairly accurate assesment though you've missed a few promising types. I know you're comparing a set of years with limited development, but some more recent recruits look okay and are not necessarily so 'young'.
Personally the better recruiting since 2021 makes the picture a bit different...
This is a really good summary of the issues. 4x poor drafts (2021 still has time but not looking great). Then that was accentuated by trading out of the early parts of the next 2 drafts for Taranto and Hopper.
Unless something miraculous happens it'll be a 7 year gap in the list with at best...
We're where we are because we didn't get more talent, but mainly right now because our entire starting midfield and KPFs (until Balta came back, are out. The team is a mess due to injury. Which might be due to injury prone players, poor conditioning etc, or bad luck, or all 3.
The future for...

Finally someone in the media gets it. What we're seeing now is a culmination of events that have happened since the WCE game in 2021 when the era started its final phase.
This year is ground zero of the Yze tenure and the pain we're copping now is necessary so that the future will be better.

...reasons for that are myriad, but none more so than the fact Tom Lynch has been injured for most of the time they have been there, as has JoshGibcus.

We need to hear more info from the club about this.
Not the “it’s just bad luck” garbage they came out with a couple of weeks ago.
If it was just this year then fair enough but they must have a short memory because the same s**t was happening last year.

On those rankings and Richmonds possible draft hand, the Whitlock boys , Shanahan Faull & Mraz would be right in the mix for our late R1/early R2 picks. Would help establish our long term spine along side Balta Gibcus Ryan Miller & Lefau
