AFL said they were sick of the umpire bashing...probably sent a memo to Ch 7 commentators to go easy on the umps. The umpiring has been absolutely shocking. So many soft frees that weren't there.

It's a game plan issue more than skills. We see it all the time, kicking can look s**t when the game plan and structures are poor and players don't know what to do so everything is under pressure. Fix that up and their kicking would look better because they'd be hitting up players in space.

Because this proves nothing. A team could get 50 frees for and 0 against in a game, and theoretically they could all be correct calls if that team just keeps giving away free kicks. The numbers don't necessarily prove anything. It also doesn't factor in non-calls.
