So I’m heading to Japan for a couple of weeks in October after I do a tour of North Korea and a few days in Beijing.
I’m interested in going out to Mt Fuji (from Tokyo) and I’ve done a bit of research on tours etc and nothing seems to jump out at me so I’m contemplating driving out to the five...
I'm going to a game at the University of South Carolina, playing against the Florida Gators. Really looking forward to it, even got myself in on some tailgate action with some locals.
Maybe if I buy an AT&T go phone sim card online I'll avoid this deposit crap. I'm not keen on relying on wifi and I also want to be able to make some calls.
What was the registration process? Last time I took my iPhone 4 and only got edge data on T-Mobile but it was good enough for maps/facebook/email etc. I've done some research and it seems AT&T are compatible with an Australian Galaxy S3 which I have. I was really hoping I'd just walk into a AT&T...
If people visit around when the Fringe, Womad, Clipsal etc is on at the same time the city is buzzing. It's a fantastic time of year to be here (unless you work in the CBD which is me lol) with so much to do and see. Apart from that there's isn't a whole lot on unless you're into the Barossa or...
If you're going to the US make sure you know exactly where you're staying when you fill out the arrival card. If you're vauge or not sure you will be put through the ringer by their customs.
There was a way for iphone on pre paid AT&T but that loophole seems to have been fixed up. So I went in to a T-Mobile store and signed up with them 50 bucks a month and I got a phone number and calls. Now if you want it primarily for the data you can only get Edge (2G) speeds because of the...
When we went in December 2009 we wanted to go on a tour but it was all shut down because of the damn NHL winter classic.
I got in to San Francisco yesterday. I haven't seen a great deal yet but from what I can tell it's a magnificent city.
I stayed there while in NYC and I'm staying there when I get back. While it's not right in the middle of the action it's only a 15 minute subway ride to 42nd street. Nice and clean and cheap compared to most other hostels. It's a big place and has good common room facilities. I'd recommend...
Most hostels will offer a locker but you need your own lock a lot of the time. I'd sleep with valuables on your body if you don't get a locker. Maybe it's just me but I take the stance of don't trust anyone (even though 98% of people aren't thieves).
As for traveling alone... I'm off on my...
If I was traveling with a group of mates I'd consider hiring a car but
a)I'm not confident to go driving off in the desert alone not know where I have to go... especially if I'm hung over ;)
b)Hiring a car and paying for fuel would probably end up costing me more in the long run than...
It's probably been raised before but I'm not trawling through 47 pages....
Who's been to the Grand Canyon and more importantly who did people book with? I've seen a few different tour coaches and I have to say all the websites look a bit dodgy.
Hey guys flying into LAX on a Thursday morning at 9:30am. Last time I was able to get through customs very quickly, was around 40 mins or so but that was at around 6am in the morning. What kind of delay should I expect at 9:30? I'm looking at booking flights to San Fran but I want to give myself...
Just realised I'll be in the US for thanksgiving. What's the deal with stuff being open? I'm assuming it's like a public holiday but is it total shut down or can I expect to find bars/pubs that will be open? I'd like to watch football and have turkey somewhere!
They didn't accept my driver license in Boston on christmas night when we went out for drinks. I had to go back to the hostel and get my passport. Luckily the hostel was a 10 minute walk down the street.
You could probably walk up and get tickets at the door for that game. That's if the NBA season goes ahead. I've already booked two NFL games, both in New England. INDY @ NE and KC @ NE, both prime time!
Now this NFL lockout is over I can start planning my trip.
Definite cities are-
New York
Boston
Philadelphia
Las Vegas
Maybes-
Denver (probably definite for a New England game)
Washington DC
Chicago (really want to go as I missed out last time but will be hard to fit in if I go the southern...
ahh sorry about that :o
I was considering staying at a hostel in Vegas but I wanted the full on experience. What was the crowd like at the Vegas hostel?
Yeah the HI-New York is great, right on a subway stop (red line I think) for maximum convinence. Just get a week pass and you're set...
I'm thinking of going back to the states (did it in 09) solo. I'd be staying in 90% hostels bar say maybe Vegas. Why are you suggesting hostels to be a last resort? I stayed in plenty of hostels and had some of the most fun I've ever had.
As for OP I spose it comes down to how organised you...
