It's interesting you say that because I had it at a similar time to you and I don't reckon I've ever fully recovered. From memory, all I had were swollen glands in my neck for a couple of weeks and nothing else at the time.
They are brilliant pets. If they were smaller and fluffier everyone would have one. As stated above they love to laze about but a walk or gallop every day is ideal.
