I believe it was a positional thing. Hogan had barely played any consistent footy, Riccardi was way off it, didn't have Cadman and had just lost JC.
They wanted a tall forward and when they couldn't get it went onto Callaghan who was just the most talented (after Daicos).
As to why they didn't...
Yeah maybe. Guess it depends on how highly you rate Sheezel/Wardlaw compared to Cadman.
Fortunately this year you don't have to worry about go home factor.
Most years I reckon that would be an interesting trade. But given there isn't no1 talent that's available at that pick (thanks father/son) I don't see any value in it for the Giants.
1. Bruhn is on his 2nd contract (not a salary cap problem at all)
