He's always demonstrated these capabilities (great hands, brilliant gather) at Westies it just seemed a matter of getting the tank and to a lesser degree getting the pace of the AFL game.
Despite being a Port / Westies (sad to see him move on) it's great to see another one of our products...
From the games Tippett played for the Bloods he looked much more a ruckman than a forward. Didn't seem to get to the right spots / time his leads. However given his inexperience it's excusable. He does look talented though.
I was stunned he never made it with you lot. Only a little guy but has got all the guts and a very good level of skill. He did anger me greatly though on Saturday, we managed to clear it when we were back to within a couple of kicks and went very wide to a 2-1 advantage to Sturt. Other than that...
Not that tall. Played a few games in 2003 (the Grand Final year) and looked the goods. Played a few games last year and has really put his stamp on the team this year. Has been in our best 3 times out of 5 I think but this week was his first big chance in the midfield I think. Played in a back...
Half back wasn't the key, midfield pressure was. It always has been for teams playing against Port. It was typical of the games we have lost in the past. If coaches and teams really wanted to see how to beat Port why haven't they watched the Roos or the Demons at the MCG play against us...
This whole thing could be good for West End if they direct their sponsorship dollars towards the SANFL clubs.
Of course if West End pull out of footy sponsorship all together there is a rather large gap in each clubs income they will need to find.
It is a complicated web given that the...
Not surprised but a little disappointed. Good for Westies that he had the chance to develop further in the AFL system.
Would have liked a chance to see him play at AFL level.
Hassan is slower, more ball winning. Slightly older so has a mature, stronger body. Pearce is lightening quick, but is light on. Would take longer to be ready but maybe better in the long run, whereas Hassan doesn't have that scope but I'm confident he could contribute.
And you missed the point of what I was saying.
How do we know White hasn't got rare skills as well. He hasn't been allowed to settle in the AFL side as Hentschel has.
How do you get that? The only tangible thing that seperates the two is that Hentschel has had games and game time to show he could be a very good player.
At a base level they are different players anyways so the comparison is a little unfair.
Re: Goodbye, Farewell and Amen
Surjan was tipped to be a first rounder and slipped completely, if my memory serves correct.
Edit: Note to self, read rest of thread.
Re: Crows! Draft Eckermann!
Chad is more arrogant than Kane.
Kane is very motivated and learnt from that lil incidence against everyone's second favourite team.
Burgoyne got there on the back of his GF performance. Same with Kane Cornes.
Cam Bruce is better than Edwards. Just. I love Edwards (another Westies man) but Bruce has age on his side and in the AFL that is about enough to tip the scales.
Brogan was better last year, but is still one of the top ruckman in the comp, more than half the teams in the league would have him as their lead ruck and even the teams that wouldn't need him only don't need him because they have a younger lead ruck who they need to develop. Also rumoured to be...
He hasn't made it official quite yet. There was something in the local Adelaide rag, rumouring something but nothing yet. Believe me we're keeping a close eye on that over on the other side ;)
It's not just us that are let down. Everyone club here has a prize ********wit making it easy to stereotype.
Just be thankful that your stereotype is a mild-mannered club ;)
I'll give you a tip. In most cases the posters who frequent the main board are not the typical Big Footy supporter of any club. For a look at what the true supporters are doing head over to the Team Boards.
