Welcome Welcome to Richmond Pick 17 - Tom Brown

One of the real bright spots for us in 2024. Going beautifully. The only player I've seen in recent years with similar composure so early in his career was Nick Vlastuin. Not a bad benchmark!

Player Watch #27 Thomson Dow - signed to 2024

Good game. I expect he'll have another good game against Freo (who have a stacked midfield). Starting to show something. Makes a good pairing with Shai in the middle. Now we just need one of our bigger mids to not be injured.

Have you ever attended a game at the MCG. Stood up and had a beer with the "grog squad" at the Punt Road end of the ground? Perhaps sung a song about Dusty? It starts "Oh Dustin Martin, you are the love of my life....". If so, maybe Dusty is taking you up on your offer.

Player Watch #10 Maurice Rioli Jnr

I chose those two players for the comparison (rather than say a Toby Greene) because they were NOT star players early in their career, but they have become pretty handy small forwards (one high, one deep). Even early days with both players, it was obvious that they COULD be AFL players. Two...

No, not at all. What worries my about MRJ is his ceiling. Do you think he can be as good as Tyson Stengle or Gryan Miers? IMHO he won't make it. I hope I'm wrong.

I think it's important to acknowledge that it's not just about attitude. Some players simply don't have the physical capability to be AFL-level athletes. I'm far from convinced on MRJ yet. Nice cameos, poor decision making, questionable skills. I like the effort he's showing though.

Autopsy Roast & Toast R5 vs West Coast & Changes for The Bye

Anyone who is angry tonight needs to #eco. It's going to get a whole lot worse in the coming weeks. That's just the way this season has shaped up. The injuries, the tough draw, the rookie coach - it might all work out for the best in the end (and no, 2025 is not the end). Also - we won 3...

    Injury Report - Season 2024

Taranto hurting his wrist is just a footy injury. Anyone who wants to blame Meehan needs to pause. Unless James "Son of God" Christ is our trainer, there's not much that can be done about that.

Autopsy Roast, Toast & Changes for Round 5 Vs. West Coast

I'm fine with that result. A narrow win on a non-AFL ground wouldn't have done much for us come the end of the season. We're looking for a bottom-4 finish and a lot of games into the kids. Anyone carrying on today has NFI.

Player Watch Welcome to Richmond - Jacob Koschitzke

Was fine. I'm not sure what people expect. Had a few good moments. Was beaten by Wilkie, who isn't a hack.

Player Watch Welcome to Richmond - Jacob Koschitzke

Deliver it in front of him and he'll contest and (sometimes) mark it on the lead. Plop it on his head and he'll get smashed. Give him 4 shots at goal from set shots and he'll kick 2 or 3. Pretty simple. Go Kosi!

Opinion What should season 2024 be?

"Tanks" for a top 4 draft pick. Lots of games into the youngsters. Teach effort and pressure football. Find the new Richmond style. Play our style of game, even if some of the pieces aren't good enough (e.g. Kosi or Ryan for Lynch). We can then slot in better players as they become available.

Shai, Floss and Dan are excellent players. I'd add Baker to that list. Love 'em to bits. Even though the competition wouldn't rank Floss and Dan as A-graders, I think they are undervalued by people who don't watch Richmond every week. For the others, it's not difficult to name better players in...

Autopsy Roast Toast & Changes for Round 4 Gather round vs St Kilda.

Good point, but I respectfully disagree (particularly with the bolded section). The only way to get games into Ryan is at the expense of Naismith. Naismith is purely a backup for Nank (injury, suspension or rest). I can't see us getting close to a top-4 finish with this list. We lack a-grade...

Not really a coin toss. One is a 31 years old ruck, the other is a 23 years old forward ruck. Pick the kid.

Autopsy Roast Toast & Changes for Round 4 Gather round vs St Kilda.

Things I noticed about today: 1) Swing it wide - we conceded the center corridor and pushed wider to Pickett's wing for a lot of the day. It worked a treat. Seth Campbell, Pickett, Shai, M. Rioli and D. Rioli were all able to use their speed to give us line-breaking possession. 2) The ball...

List Mgmt. Trade & Free Agency talk Pt 8

Plenty of list managers will be taking a close look at Ben Miller as an unrestricted free agent. I think he'd be a big loss. I hope we can lock him in for 3 years. I know not everyone agrees, but I think his value will climb over the next 10-15 matches.

Autopsy Roast Toast & Changes for Round 3 V Sydney

Second quarter was good, with some attacking intent. I thought Miller stepped up today. That's about it for the positives. We lost because Port were better at the contest, more damaging with the footy, better on the spread and had great connection with their leading forwards. I'm surprised we...
