Teams like North Melbourne, Bulldogs, Melbourne and Hawthorn have reduced interstate travel because they sell home games and they generally host non-vic sides in Tassie, Darwin, Ballarat etc. Unless they play that team twice, they won't play them interstate. I believe Collingwood have a contract...
Which is why I don't understand the reason for having this fixture in Perth so much.
I can understand Gold Coast, GWS and even Sydney, but West Coast? I don't see the logic.
At least it isn't a Thursday night game again.
Not really. You guys are premiership contenders/top 4 fancies so your top 8 record will naturally be looked at.
We're a rebuilding side so naturally our interstate record isn't going to be covered because we're not expected to win many games at all.
Port is another team that has their record vs...
Well most expected us to be in the spoon race this year. Is losing 5 interstate games against current top 8 sides really a story?
Surely you can see the difference.
West Coast and Richmond have the bye in the same week. Makes sense for the game to be moved a week forward and have the bye afterwards.
Carlton can hub in Sydney and host you guys there instead of the MCG.
Makes sense for Essendon and Richmond to have the game in Perth. It'll cause minimum fuss.
I know. We'd have played 5 games against West Coast (all in WA) since the introduction of Optus Oval in 2018 (including this preseason game) and literally all of them are on a Thursday night. Why the weird obsession? At least make one in Vic for a change lol.
Also if I am correct, all H&A games...
No it’s not.
If Bulldogs and Richmond win, it’s West Coast vs Essendon.
You guys can only play Brisbane, Essendon or Hawthorn (with Adelaide and Port a very small chance). Most likely a West Coast vs Essendon final.
He’s being played as a forward because of the injuries to our forwards. Redman replaced him as he went forward. Our back 6 as a unit are probably in the best form competition-wide at the moment so it’s hard for him to crack the side.
West Coast by 10 grams unless Essendon bring the pressure like they did against Geelong
If they do, then Essendon by 10mm (If not banter thread, please delete)
If you are wondering why this has resurfaced for the 100th time almost 10 years after, just look at who the coach was, where he is now and what his current club is trying to move on from before the big game.
Anything to sell paper. It's ridiculous.
