Review Round 20, 2018 - Brisbane Lions vs. North Melbourne

Geez you guys are on the cusp...

    2015 Trade/FA Discussion (cont. in Pt.2)

I guess you can look at it like that, or on the other hand we have no pressure to sell, so can look for a deal that suits and if found take advantage of it. Its up to the club how they value a 120 game 16-25 ranked player at the club and how much an external club values his talent. There is...

    2015 Trade/FA Discussion (cont. in Pt.2)

Cap space wasn't an issue earlier in the year and will be even less so now due to the forced retirements of Grima and Adams. I think the willingness to listen to offers for Bastinac are more around his suitability to our team at the minute and the potential value for us in trading him. We went...

    His kicking is fine.

    2015 Trade/FA Discussion (cont. in Pt.2)

Fair enough. Basti is probably a cleaner player than Bell and has achieved a s**t load more than Jansen. If Aish was to be traded would Basti and our 2nd pick work? Gives you a mid who can contribute straight away and a pick for another. Might be perceived as a bit light on from the Lions end.

    2015 Trade/FA Discussion (cont. in Pt.2)

He needs a change of scenery. A true rover who gets pushed outside because a) Cunnington, Ziebell and Swallow have been our three main contested players, and b) he has a very good tank. I actually hope he gets a good run at it somewhere else because he really can be a very effective player in...

Exodus watch! (Opposition supporters post trade rumours here)

Brisbane would need to add something to that.

Maybe. Who else is after him?

Exodus watch! (Opposition supporters post trade rumours here)

Taz is very important to us structurally and into the future. Seriously doubt we would contemplate trading him out tbh. Levi plays a role that is currently occupied by the likes of Swallow, Cunnington, Ziebell and Wells. These are the guys who take most of our stoppage set ups. Unless there is...

Ah so. Thanks TBD. Looks reasonable to me. Considering BF have it sorted how come it hasn't happened yet?

Got a feeling North are keen on the Doc. We have pick 26 and one or two players such as Levi Greenwood and Luke Delaney. Would the Lions be interested in working summit out?

North would probably be very tempted to take that even though both are probably in the best 28 or so. We are in a position where we will find it hard to delist players but we also need to upgrade 2 rookies so we need to make space. Trading useful players out for picks is the best way to do that...

Urquhart will be available I reckon. Contracted for 2012 but always seemingly falling out of favour or getting injured at the wrong time. He might be keen to move home.

It seems that there is a ranking of sorts going on with our mids at the minute. If you look at our group, outside of Wells and Swallow, most of the inside types are quite young. I get the impression that the coach would prefer to put time into Ziebell, Cunnington, Bastinac, Greenwood and Atley...

Any takers on the following? Gavin Urquhart - Dashing back flanker with booming kick but incosistent, fitness issues in 2011, fully recovered, doing ok at VFL level. 1 game AFL in 2011 Ben Warren - Lead up medium forward, 20 goals at VFL level in 2011, consistently in the BOG list and a handful...

Definitely an inside mid and plays that role at AFL level, but looks more of a half forward due to the way he moves and his skill level. Very skillful player who has worked really hard on his aerobic conditioning. Still has a way to go but his numbers at VFL level show just how well he is going...

    Sam Power to join Lukey?

To be honest I thought that he was a fairly consistent contributer at North, however he just does not have enough weapons to be an effective AFL player. His performances in Norths B&F are a reflection of his performance in the roles that the coaches gave him, not BoG related. He does a job, does...
