Pretty much.
Rugby players seem to return earlier than AFL players. Heavily strapped knees. Especially forwards who run in straight lines more than changing direction.
AFL is a brutal sport on the knees. Stopping, jumping and landings. Propping and changing direction constantly.
So many...
So NFL and basket ball.
Versus AFL which is higher impact, a 360 degree game with the need to both power and endurance.
10 months might be fine in those US sports but it doesn't come close to the demands of AFL IMO. In NFL they have two teams, a defense and an offence that spend half a game...
Anything under 12 months isnt advised. 9 months you are pushing it.
A physio on the Eagles board posted a pretty detailed explination. Pushing to play 9 / 10 months after an ACL operation is risking the graft failing is what they explained.
He described clearing a player to play 9 months...
Hmmmm. You arent as positive on here than as you post on the Eagles board about the Lions list Briz. Much more balanced. :thumbsu:
Father time spares no man. And the injury gods spares no club. Thats why predicting where clubs will be in 3 to 5 years time is full of uncertainties.
Yep Eagles cant compete with grand finalists continuing to get quality academy kids every year either. On top of father sons, free agents and quality trades.
Briz loves his draft picks THAT's for sure.
But it's really hard for him to get too excited because at the Lion's the early picks get traded for players and the rest get traded out into points for academy kids which he already knows all about. Chances are he's already got their autographs and...
Have you been out in the sun or something?
Well I suppose the Lions are finally playing the Eagles at Optus for the first time. Six years in a row wow.
But jokes aside there is no way the Lion's dont make finals. Will be far too good at home to fall far.
Come on Briz old mate. -Whats with the negativity?
Lose a couple of games and throwing in the towel?
As you constantly keep reminding us on the Eagles board Lion's will be fine with another FS gun and all the academy kids lining up.
You can leave finishing last to us thank you very much! ;)...
So big question is.
Will Fagan take the boys to a closed screening of the original Predator?:thumbsu:
Good way to chill out have a laugh for a couple of hours bonding with the team.
What a great piece of club history. :thumbsu: Still remember this at the start of the Lions dynasty...
About as much as the Pies worrying about their GF record I reckon.
Once the adrenalin hits its who wants it more and who has the skilled players to score.
Lol.. Legitimate question. Mate you really have trust issues dont you.
You dissagree that Gunston was brought in for this exact reason. To help win a flag in his last two years?
Pies lost another tall. Are seriously short in defense. And a 3 time premiership kp forward is fighting for...
I assume you are still on the turps celebrating. Fair enough.:thumbsu:
Fair discussion point I believed. Do you bring in a triple premiership forward to stretch the Pies defence and add another goal kicking option?
This is the exact reason Brisbane acquired Gunston, to add goal kicking...
So Gunston reportedly was available for selection for the prelim. Do the Lions bring in some experience up forward for the big dance?
Looking at who could make way there isnt many. A very tough selection.
Fletcher, Lyons, Dev or Ah chee are the only likely options based on positional needs...
Great result just need one more big effort.
Pies look vulnerable. Dont listen to those Vic bias media flogs.
Lions have a big advantage with talls, especially forward. Pendlebury names chb? After Moore their talls down back simply arent tall enough. Also just lost McStay to an unfortunate...
Reported Lions traded a future 2nd with Berry. So unable to now trade a F1st.
And they already traded this years pick 15.
How are they landing Dunkley with no 1st round picks available to use then?
What decent player will be involved that is equal to a 1st rounder?
Sounds like Dev is 99% chance of staying.
Wants to win his spot and keep it.
The kid has a great attitude.
Id love to get him at the Eagles but it wont be this year unless the Lion's change their mind and ask him to move.
Side note. Reported up here in Darwin CEY signed with Southern Districts FC where my son plays u18.
He's all excited.;):thumbsu::drunk:
Prob wont be a full season.
GAJ signed with Palmerston Magpies but 1 game only, same club Eddie Betts is playing acouple of games for.
Great win Lions, great win. :thumbsu:
And on a positive note it was good to see Zorko focus on playing football and leading his team and not getting caught up in the sledging BS. Its not an attractive part of his game and actually hurts the team. Hopefully the 'óld dog' has learned...
Geelong is competing against Melbourne house prices not interstate prices. If a player wants to move back to or remain in Victoria Geelong has a big advantage with cost of living and lifestyle. Best of both worlds. An hour away from Melbourne but not living in there nor paying massively for...
Geelong have a natural advantage being where it is. Down the coast, outside Melbourne but not far. Cost of living compared to capital cities should not be underestimated. Living outside the bubble at a club with great history, success and financial resources.
If you are looking for your last...
If Dunkley comes in chances are he wants to play on ball not HFF.
That would likely mean Roberston is traded as his position is on ball plus as you mentioned they need draft capital and also list spots to have enough picks to pay for Ashcroft and Fletecher. Two more mids.
Its a good problem...
