Was a very sad day. Thankfully it's not likely to be repeated any time soon, because they clearly won't be there this year. I've heard a rumour that Pyke will have his players on a tomato soup diet in the lead up to the finals, in the hope they don't choke in September, but I don't think it'll...
In late news, the Adelaide branch of the RSPCA is about to lobby the state government to ban all Crows players from owning a dog, due to their inability to hold onto a lead :-).
That was one helluva gutsy win by your blokes - against all the odds, plus the small matter of the opposition having...
A captain is there to lead from the front, and inspire his team mates to perform great deeds on the field. On both counts, I can't imagine a better candidate for the Hawks - I have no doubt that Roughy will be a wonderful skipper.
Hope you don't mind me posting this. Here's your incredibly useless stat for the day - Hawthorn's last 6 wins have been by 46, 46, 3, 3, 3, and 46 points - how's that for consistency? :)
Yeah that one still stings, but hey: we had our chances in that first quarter - 3:9 was never gonna be good enough against a classy outfit like the Hawks.
Of course I wish he was still with us, but wow - what a career he's forged with the Hawks. Very few players can say they're 4 time premiership players, but Shaun is now in that elite company, and good on him. It'd be lovely to see him mark his 300th with a win: partly because the "Crows for...
I won't lie: I would have liked an Eagles win today. But wow: I have SO much respect for your club. If this team hadn't joined football's immortals before today, they certainly have now. Astonishing achievement!!!
Just thought you folks would like to know that, according to the Adelaide media, the Crows are almost a shoe in to go all the way in 2015. Any chance of your blokes putting a stop to this madness on Friday night????
All the best for this weekend: it should be a ripping contest.
Thought Hawks fans would like to know about an interview on Adelaide radio yesterday. Stephen Rowe and Mark Bickley (affectionately known in Adelaide as Dumb and Dumber) were talking to Kyle Cheney. Rowe asked the question, "So Kyle...
Looking forward to this one. The weather isn't looking too bad (maybe a shower during the game, but not much), so it has all the ingredients of a classic contest. And the occasion of the Anzac centenary will make it even more special.
Obviously I'd like our boys to stop Hawthorn's run, but if you can pull off a premiership hat trick, I'll be among the first to offer my congratulations. Plus of course it means another year where the Crows and Magpies don't win it, which can't be a bad thing :-)
There was a comment on Adelaide radio this morning, which I thought you guys would enjoy, "Hawthorn wins a premiership once per Olympiad, while Melbourne wins one about as often as you see Halley's Comet." :-)
Late mail - I thought you guys should know. Apparently Alastair Clarkson will be coaching both Hawthorn AND Adelaide in 2015. Apparently there's already a precedent: some bloke called Scott coaches North Melbourne and Geelong :)
Mate it's killing me that we have to wait 27 long weeks until round 1. Can't wait for 2015 - who knows: our two clubs may fight it out for next year's title.
Of course, if you believe the Adelaide media, Clarko is on his way to West Lakes on Monday, and the Crows will win the next 5 flags :-)...
I thought Port finished third - looks like I was wrong. Daylight second, Sydney third :-)
Well done Hawthorn: outstanding achievement - enjoy the spoils.
Only one downer for me: Hawthorn isn't winning by enough - I want to hand the record grand final margin to the COLA's :-)
But seriously, wonderful first half by your boys: even if you only score 5 second half goals, you'll be hard to beat.
All the very best today, Hawks fans. If you pull this off, I'd rank it among the great premiership wins of the modern era, considering the injuries you had during the year - plus this Sydney team is bloody good!!!!
From a purely selfish point of view, I want a cliffhanger today (although I'm...
Before Port entered the AFL, I had the misfortune of attending an Adelaide v Richmond game at AAMI Stadium. Tony Modra was on fire: he kicked 13 for the game, and the Fruit Tingles won by 139 points. But still the locals weren't happy: at one point a Richmond defender punched the ball through...
I'm firmly in Hawthorn's corner on Saturday. Your supporters were sensational on the weekend: your kind words about the Power on our board were much appreciated. So I for one would love to see the Hawks go back to back this weekend, and see Franklin in tears after the game :-)
Congratulations to the Hawks: good teams know how to win big games, and your boys managed to find a way to get over the line tonight. Hopefully our two teams can create a bit of a finals rivalry over the next few years: I'm sure there'll be many more thrillers like tonight's game. All the best...
I don't reckon Hawthorn lost any friends last night. To start the game, minus a host of stars, and play a team that's undefeated on its new home ground, and get within a couple of goals, I reckon that's a damn fine effort. No doubt our paths will cross again in September: on that occasion...
At work on Monday, I received an e-mail from a pessimistic Hawks fan, who basically said the visitors have no chance of winning this game. I don't buy it for one moment - OK, you've got several stars out, but those who are coming in are still damn fine players, and apart from them there's plenty...
