The A-League runs a comp now called the National Youth League which is made up of 16-21 year olds and you are allowed 4 over age players so it’s essentially a Reserves comp now. I actually don’t mind watching it from time to time as you get to see your sides youth aswell as a few older blokes...
The line the club trotted out was that several other clubs were in deep financial trouble and that the $50k per year each club would receive from the Crows would be their salvation. They hadn’t figured in the loss of revenue from fans voting with their feet so many clubs are worse off now
Because Norwood were one of the clubs who voted them in despite the majority of our members not wanting it. Several of us took to the floor at the AGM outlining our disgust at the proposal to allow them entry. The board at the time said they would listen to their members and vote accordingly...
I’d rather see the stand alone clubs play in seperate comp to the aligned clubs in the VFL. They have made a total mess of that comp but can’t see it changing.
I guess you guys in the WAFL have become accustomed to it but I never want to see the day an AFL aligned club wins a SANFL flag. As a...
Not any more they aren’t.
Once they sold their soul to become taken over by the Eagles they lost their true identity.
But I probably worded it incorrectly, no AFL aligned club should be allowed to play finals
Sounds a bit like our issues in the SANFL but atleast you guys are trying to do something about it. Personally I think the 2 AFL sides should be excluded from finals and just let the proper clubs play finals.
Only a matter of time before AFLWA and AFLSA happens. The AFL has their greedy fingerprints all over it and won't be happy until they control all football in Australia
Have been some rumours that the WAFC is trying to instigate some more drastic moves. Talks of merging South and East Fremantle or Claremont and Subiaco. They would also scrap the reserves and hand control of the colts over to the AFL
Cheers, we have a heap over here who refuse to go since the AFL sides entered. Our GF only drew 25k today and the weather was amazing. VFL GF had low 20k today also. Unfortunately the days of the 40-50k crowds may have passed:(
Sorry to hear.
Hope you enjoy the well earnt celebrations.
Has the crowd been affected by the inclusion of the AFL reserves or was it as simple as everyone in Perth all footied out this weekend?
