Well said, I reckon most of us had no idea on his background before plaing in the SANFL.
All you see on someone's profile when theyre drafted is which WAFL/SANFL club they're from, unlike the Victorians who are come via the under 18s or the various minor leagues.
Seeing the name of a Perth...
I think last year the question marks were about his actual ruckwork, and he has beaten the more experienced Doyle and the similarly-aged Blake in the p/s comp. His around the ground stuff last year, and his ability to p[ick the ball up below his knees were and stil are pretty mind blowing for a...
Still the worst field kick in the side by a long way. Love his attack on the footy and his ability to blanket a man, but geez stick to handpasses. Simmo started handballing a lot more in 2005 to the betterment of his game and I think Brady should be forced to do the same. It's got me stuffed how...
A room full of pommy beer. Yech! Worth hiring a car, driving to Germany or the Czech republic via the Chunnel, and bringing home what fits. Might go a trailer too.
Can you put a second trailer onto a first trailer? :D
Hehe, I was actually extracting the urine with a "mock disgust" post. Ironically I was sloshed when I did it, so it wasn't done very well. :D
Seriously though, to show up poo-faced is not on, but the club has dealt with it, and it hasn't been turned into a media circus like the Carlton case a...
Quite simply, disgraceful.
Showing up "under the influence" is just not on, doesn't matter if you're a league footballer or a lowly storeman for a stationery company.
It was pretty bad wasn't it, but good to see a couple of North jumpers on telly all the same.
I hope "Uncle" Arthurs savoured his win over Brown in the goalkicking, cos last I saw he was getting a touch-up in the Hopman Cup singles rubber.
Either the "incentives" are huge or that $1.8m figure was crap all along. I suspect the latter, but wonder if an ambit claim was throw in by old Ronnie.
I'd say most of us would imagine 420-450 is his ball park figure overall, and it'll end up a fair deal for all concerned.
Might have the finances to throw dollars at players, but to get them to the club we'll still have to trade players or picks.
Wonder if the club would consider again trading our first and second picks, given that it's supposedly a pretty lean year as far as the draft goes.
We really need a...
I think Pratt can play a bit, but discipline still lets him down. Not just giving away frees, but poor decisions in general. Had a very ordinary game yesterday, but may be a reasonable enough option on Dew this week to get retained.
I think it also ties in a bit with Dean Laidley's comment about us being "in the ball park" with regard to other teams, and trying to impart a pragmatic approach that we've probably attained the results aimed for at the start of the year.
Not that I agree with it, though. Shades of season...
I agree windsock. Drew negated an A-grade tap ruckman, and was very good around the ground. He wasn't Robinson Crusoe to miss a couple of shots at goal. I'd have his game getting 10 tackles and a few contested touches AS A RUCKMAN over Harvey's 26 as a receiver.
I know there is a role for...
Brett Allison.
I thought Drew should have probably been dropped 3-4 weeks ago... absolute rock bottom... the ONE week I couldn't justify him playing seniors he was retained, was good, and has been good since.
Leaving him in the ruck has been good for him. Getting his hands on the ball, and...
Good player, is the Dal, but that money is obsecene.
I'd pay 500k or more for a top line KPP, in relative terms midfielders DO grow on trees.
Chase Ashley Hansen instead (not at the same $).
Cut down the vitriol and abuse at eachother, folks.
North's won by 5 goals, is sitting 7-5, and all the usual targets for criticism played well... so why have I had to lock and edit more threads in the last 24 hours than for the previous month? Seems stupid.
My post earlier may have seemed harsh - perhaps a bit too blunt. I'm guilty of that sometimes. It may not have been his worst game for the club but I won't retract my earlier comment because I don't believe he will be with us next year simply because he is not up to it.
Watt was cut up in the first half. As usual, most of his opponent's touches were well in the clear.
Not one of L.Brown's better games either, but having Bradshaw bitch Watt AGAIN would have been a disaster.
How close was Luke O'Sullivan to playing 10 yeares for Carlton? Granted there were a lot of injuries, but he was a plodder at best. Same as David Dwyer at North. 1984-93, or thereabouts? I've seen better under 9's.
He even struggled in the reserves.
My worst five of the last 20 years :
David Bourke:mad:, David Calthorpe, Marty Christensen, Keenan Reynolds, Jamie Stevenson.
I still think Shannon Watt has SOME ability. Usually not a bad kick, is mobile, but his weaknesses are poor reading of the...
Drew's had fairly limited game time this year, including two games (Sydney, Hawthorn) where injuries restricted him to less than 20 minutes.
I'd say one game out, and at least one (possibly two) games back in the VFL is a safe ground between giving McIntosh a chance to impress, Petrie a...
I thoght he'd get flogged today, as Spider is THE best in the comp, bar none.
I reckon Haley beat him today.
The best part of it, is that apart from short relieving stints, it allowed Thommo to present as a marking target up forward. Hale's job was probably "don't get smashed", and he...
It's good that Laidley acknowledges the differences in our two FBs and in different FFs. Part of the learning curve I guess, but I just wish he'd discovered this tactic in 2003 or 2004 when he virtually refused to play Brown at FB.
I dunno... in my post I didn't even get to players like Harris, Picioane, Jones and Makepeace who could all be part of the midfield at some stage.. the only other Swans I can think of are Bevan, McVeigh, and possibly Fosdike and Nicks.
Rawlings for Bolton, Stevo for Williams, I'd say. Kirk will get Simmo, Maxfield might have to run with Wells, and Crouch will get Boomer. Maybe Mathews and Grant to face eachother.. interesting to see who Spud plays on. Might play on a HBF and get O'Keefe, at a guess.
