    Delisted 31. Francis Evans (2020 -2022)

Yes, it's the same net result, *provided* that it played out that way. There would have been another eight players to choose from.

    Delisted 31. Francis Evans (2020 -2022)

True, I think the difference here being that we didn't have a pick after 47 back in 1999.

    Delisted 31. Francis Evans (2020 -2022)

This is true, but my questioning is really around... pick 41? C'mon Geelong - it's *highly* unlikely that someone in Div 2 Ammos was going to be taken by anyone else in the National Draft at all. Would have preferred to be a bit more strategic in that sense - take the 98% chance that he would...

    Delisted 36. Blake Schlensog (2019-2020)

Why they didn't just headline it as "Schlong extension" I'll never know
  5. iameviljez

    Delisted 36. Blake Schlensog (2019-2020)

Yeah, but none of whom are really the type you would build a forward line around. Darling, Waite and Membrey are all effectively mid-sized and can't provide the same get-out option as, say, Hawkins, while Jenkins was pretty solid value but struggles as a prime target. They aren't *only* found...

Who knows? It's not as though he was short of appraisals of opposition playing ability in his playing days...

    Delisted 36. Blake Schlensog (2019-2020)

Not quite a "hail Mary", but certainly a long shot. Generally, almost all genuinely good tall forwards are taken in the first round, and certainly not in the 40s. Tom McDonald and Ben Brown are the exception; Franklin, Hawkins (who would have gone top-5 were it not for f/s), Riewoldt, Hogan and...

    Delisted 33. Jake Tarca (2019 - 2020)

It's more the blokes who actually have a spot in the senior side who I hope he puts pressure on!

    Delisted 33. Jake Tarca (2019 - 2020)

    Devon Smith, Eddie Betts.

You and everyone else too, I suspect. Wells has effectively said as much in his post-draft interviews about the kid - that he is raw as a fruit salad and coming from a long way back. However, his rate of improvement has seen him get the nod. It's a Category B rookie slot that we give up - so...
  11. iameviljez

    Senior 30. Tom Atkins (2019 - )

Because we don't have enough defensively-minded ball winners who run both ways. There's a spot there for him, and it's currently marked "S Selwood" IMO.
  12. iameviljez

    Traded 28. Darcy Fort (2019 - 2021)

Stanley and Abbott - especially given that Stanley is so injury-prone - isn't enough. I don't think Smith will be around for long, though I don't know who he's shagged in order to be so far on the outer.

You mean that the chance at any potential nickname is... schlong-gone? Ok, ok, ok...
  14. iameviljez

    Delisted 36. Blake Schlensog (2019-2020)

Because almost all of our talls are hail-Mary types. Buzza is a very raw Queensland rugby convert coming from a long way back. Kreuger is an early-40s pick who hasn't played a game and missed out in his draft year. Ratugolea has the ability, but also has a broken ankle. The rest of them are...

    Delisted 12. Wylie Buzza (2016-2018)

Yeah, but the only issue being I guess not having easy room to play him... unless of course some big full-forward were to be suspended for a jumper punch?

    Delisted 12. Wylie Buzza (2016-2018)

Because Bobby joined with a second profile in '04 and put in 7880 posts for the cause ;)
  17. iameviljez

    Delisted 12. Wylie Buzza (2016-2018)

Yeah, but I do consider four or five good performances in the first 50-odd games for a big forward to be more indicative of quality than a one-off purple patch. I'm not saying he's Tom Lynch, but he's not a total kipfler either.
  18. iameviljez

    Delisted 12. Wylie Buzza (2016-2018)

He's got a bag of five and a few of four, you don't get that by being a TOTAL spud.
  19. iameviljez

    Delisted 12. Wylie Buzza (2016-2018)

Did I say all that? ;)
  20. iameviljez

    Delisted 12. Wylie Buzza (2016-2018)

Walker would be handy up forward. Brisbane haven't played him there because they want to pump every possible minute into Schache and Hipwood... and plus, who'd be a tall bloody forward for Brisbane with that supply?
  21. iameviljez

    Delisted 12. Wylie Buzza (2016-2018)

To bump back up, looks as though our Club Cult Figure is having a quietly good year across the VFL. http://www.geelongadvertiser.com.au/sport/afl/geelong-cats-chris-scott-says-wylie-buzza-edging-close-to-afl-debut/news-story/1474e62a6eb9926d473061440b7ea3b1

Reckon it'd be the journalist who covers Cats matches though, otherwise the Bests wouldn't correlate to the articles.

I haven't seen any Magoos games recently, but... that's quite the conspiracy.
  24. iameviljez

    Delisted 20. Steve Johnson (2002-2015)

Unlikely. I think we won't find out for a few years yet*, as the decision was made in order to not hinder the development of younger players. *Unless SJ kicks 50 in a season and we lose the Grand Final by five points.

    Delisted 20. Steve Johnson (2002-2015)

As you can imagine, Daniel, this has not been a divisive topic AT ALL on the Geelong board.
  26. iameviljez

    Retired 25. Jared Rivers (2013- 2015)

Surely one of two alternatives; 1) The belief that we have a genuine shot next year (which I don't really hold, to be honest), or 2) The belief that in order to cultivate a culture of success, clubs must never 'bottom out'.
  27. iameviljez

    Retired 17. Hamish McIntosh (2013-2015)

I agree about the ruck and the defence, but the middle and the forward line is still an unsolved issue in my book. Extracting the ball cleanly from the middle was an issue across all of 2012, whilst having an even spread of forward line options was a problem once Pods began to fall away. We...

    Retired 25. Jared Rivers (2013- 2015)

I disagree with this. Mitch could get twenty touches a week as a tall playing in the twos. As long as Rivers and Pods play at least OK in the ones, there won't be a spot for him.
  29. iameviljez

    Retired 25. Jared Rivers (2013- 2015)

I'm with you. I'm really disappointed in this, as I think it'll stymie the development of our younger players (read: Mitch Brown, should he stay).
