Yes the technical people. But what about those who work in IT projects/governance - there's still heaps around, they all sit on alphabet soup governance committees etc
The "magic of the marketplace" is a myth perpetuated by those who profit from it. While they keep us arguing over cultural wars or footy games they keep hoovering up the wealth and we suffer. You'd think people would catch on at some point, the system is working exactly how it is intended to.
Exactly, might make a difference if he was actually held to account. Articles in the Guardian about what a kook he is don't count, he should be getting grilled daily by the journos in the commercial media (TV, print and radio) but we all know why that won't happen.
“You will not change us. If you do not subscribe to the Australian way of life, leave the country.”
And then
Dutton said he believed Australians “have had a gutful of the politics of division and the preoccupation with difference”.
Seriously you can't make this s**t up.
He is such a ******* grub, no scruples at all just willing to lie, politicise and say whatever he thinks might generate some support in the polls. I've never heard a constructive word come out of his mouth and anyone who holds their nose and votes for him as a protest against Albanese/ALP should...
Well yes but some are more complicit than others, especially when they are the leaders of governments that provide support to those committing the crimes.
I don't know, that's his call to make. Perhaps it would help him sleep better knowing he is not silently complicit in the slaughter, starvation and dispossession of a couple of million people. 🤷
How does calling for Israel to cease their war crimes/genocide in Gaza/West Bank jeopardise our national interest and security? How does ceasing to support Israel commit their war crimes/genocide in Gaza/West Bank jeopardise our national interest and security?
I can understand the argument "he...
Unless you are completely isolationist which is basically impossible these days you cannot disengage from the outside world. As a signatory to global agreements/conventions etc we have an obligation. Either they mean something or they don't. You can't pick and choose.
That just sounds like weasel words. Ireland can't make Israel do anything either, doesn't preclude their leader or politicians from having a backbone and speaking out against war crimes. Silence is complicity in my eyes.
The problem is you are setting up something which you're not even sure how to achieve and which is impossible to measure as a pre-requisite of creating a fairer funding model. Sure, take a look at what can be done to improve the level of respect teachers receive but I don't see why you think...
Of course because lobby groups will always kick up a fuss and the media runs the PR campaign. It's why this country is stuffed and there is rarely any policies implemented which are in the national interest.
I don't necessarily disagree with you and the national curriculum may be good, though it does further centralise things and give the commonwealth greater power over the states in education which I think could be problematic.
I just think the first steps towards any changes is a review and...
That's not really a proposal for change though. You've said increase funding with all increased funds going to public schools however this does nothing to address the public funds going to private schools who should not be receiving it. Depending on the level of increase it also doesn't address...
Not formal expulsion, not as blunt as that. But certainly a coercion or suggestion that the student may not be suited to continue at the school. I have heard enough instances to know it happens and not isolated (maybe more so at the higher fee schools).
Always back self-interest etc but what they don't get is it is in everyone's self-interest to have better funded public schools as it contributes to a better society in the long run. Short sightedness will never acknowledge that though.
