It seems it could be much, much worse

Even uglier
There's no way he could ever top his "I agree with what the Prime Minister said, although I don't know what she said" press conference.
That was the height of satire. What was that about again?
Eldridge has been banned from filing in his home state due to the nature of his vexatious claims
Why on earth would anyone in their right mind show up personally to what's clearly an abuse of process?
I didn't get my money's worth, but to be fair, she was causing far less damage to the Country relative to when she attempts to actually govern the place.
Is the whole "all the whips" thing rather unprecedented?
I was always of the understanding that the whip's primary function were to be the Prime Minister's eyes and ears in the caucus, and to effectively marshall the leader's numbers?
And to point out the obvious, no one in the federal caucus actually thinks they'll win government in September.
Anyone with a margin between 0%-10% is looking to cling to any lifeboat that's available.
Always June 2010.
The treachery of that moment still stuns me.
I remember watching his press conference the day the challenge was announced where he came out all guns blazing. Then only to learn that the Arbib, Shorten and Farrell's of the world had decided the issue in place of the caucus...
I was using her as an example. Obviously same applies to any politician.
Mick Atkinson has said hideously defamatory things about a member of my family under the guise of parliamentary privilege in SA.
I don't see the ALP clamoring to fix that.
Agree, would like to see that fixed.
Then again, Julia Gillard can get up in Question Time and injure whoever she wants under parliamentary privilege not only without adequate means of redress but without any means of redress.
I fundamentally disagree.
I think it's pure arrogance and intellectual snobbery. Just because you disagree with someone's opinion doesn't mean that it's not valid (in their own mind) nor does it mean that there wasn't a process that went behind forming it.
I do, but Mofra's contention is that people are too dumb to be discerning media consumers.
You don't think if this assertion is correct it's a necessary implication that they are also too dumb to be able to elect politicians?
Mofra, if you truly believe your contentions about vast segments of the populace, I'd suggest the real problem in your mind doesn't involve the media, it involves an intelligence test (presumably set by you) as to who's allowed to vote.
I'm also intrigued by proponents of greater media...
I find that incredibly offensive.
I would have turned it off.
I fundamentally disagree. I honestly don't understand why people continue to consume media that upsets them so. I suspect some people enjoy having something to make them angry about to confirm their world views.
I also...
Then why does it bother you so much?
If you have no interaction with it why does it perturb you to such an extent?
Inflicting?
Is News Ltd forcing people to read it against their will?
I operated under the assumption that people paid to read The Daily Telegraph's materials? I assume...
They can.
You know what's even better than expressing an opinion? If the journalism isn't about things you're interested in. Don't read it or buy it? No one is forcing him to.
They also had a phone-hacking scandal which demonstrated a Press that was thoroughly unable to self regulate ...
Then that really raises the question, who are you to demand that commercial organisations cater solely to your whims rather than attempting to make a profit through catering to the public demand?
(unless of course you are Stephen Conroy)
The problem is that the Parliamentary Labor Party is obsessed with leadership tensions and as such constantly leak and background media sources regarding it.
Who the Prime Minister of the Country is, and that it may change is undoubtedly news regardless of whether its news that is of...
I too condemn the media for not publishing stories about policy when the Government is literally eating it's own.
A Cabinet Minister held a press conference stating he had lost confidence in the Prime Minister.
It's news whether you like it or not.
