no game today or tomorrow, then when the comp resumes, its somewhat hidden behind the boxing day/ new years tests. This comp needs to play everytime there is clear air, or start at a time when it can run continuously. This is taking into account the break for the perth test too. Its madness.
One of my recent issues is that it seems like the lists are very similar year on year. Would be great to see teams required to blood 2 players under 22 or that meet certain criteria.
Yearly query of why there isn't a christmas day night game. Teams are travelling today, could easily have it in said state, put on a big lunch for both teams + families and play the game at 7-730pm. Would be a ratings bonanza.
The competition is just wedged between international cricket which has taken a truck load of talent out via australia, australia a, as well as the touring team/s.
CA needs to do something desperately (i don't hold out much hope they will) to reinvigorate the BBL as a competition. Even bringing...
Shows where the NSW (Aust) bowling attack is at. Couldn't beat India's B side and struggled to beat an inexperienced VIC side. You could argue Cummins might have made a difference, but shows Starc, Lyon and to a much lesser extent Hazlewood are nowhere near International level atm.
The fact international players come/go so much each season, and then some teams get more stacked than others with Aus test players reiterates the micky mouse nature of this comp.
The international cricket is a big one. How the f*** we haven't had our top tier talent here in the country post the sydney test is a moronic decision.
Are people worries about the quality/depth as the star players are getting older. Was good in the beginning seeing Warne, Hussey etc in their but the potentially fillers seem to be less and less
Would anyone be opposed to reducing the number of teams back to the State v State version of the Big Bash, further reduce the season to 5-6 weeks. Start Dec 19-20 (around the start of School Holidays) and end it Australia Day weekend. Shortened comp with less teams allows better talent...
Game should've been played 2 or so weeks ago. Better chance of weather being alright and the comp should be wrapped up prior to AFL season started if not max a week into the AFL fixture
Just had a look at the BPL going on at the moment. Thats really impacting the depth of the BBL, on top of national selection. Surely CA instead of diluting the pool by players going everywhere can sustain a competition over 4 weeks which would ensure the best players can play the most games...
I also think its popularity depends on how Australians are going in the tennis. If there is a break out star or aussie going well it takes a few people away that would've been attracted to the big bash.
Is it just me or does it almost feel that we should be talking about almost shortening the season as opposed to lengthening it. Have found myself less interested in it as the season has gone on.
Dave Warner needs to be reassessed. Sick of him hitting a cheap fire 20-50 then doing himself over. Great attribute when a teams going well but need an individual that will dig in now.
Really think it should be shorter ending mid jan. Its really good for the first few weeks but then loses a bit of its appeal with the repetitiveness night after night.
really would've thought a game last night would've rated phenomenally when compared to crappy carols and repeated movies. couldnt have been that hard to get the players home or where they needed to go
