Lol.
What part of 'Im not peddling anything' is difficult to understand?
No one on here has any direct involvement and its just 'chewing the fat' talking about what the people in charge may look at doing this trade period.
Find it strange when posters reply as you have. Its an internet forum...
I'm not offloading anything.
Just discussing options.
Reported earlier in the year Dees were keen to have a crack but noone thought they would have the picks.
Freo crapping the bed now you might.
That's all.
I'm torn between using pick 1 and splitting.
Understand this view. Many have it.
Then again pick 4 is half the Jackson trade.
15 plus 30 ish gets you 5.
The F1st is a pick downgrade to a F2nd.
After player 3 theelite talent falls away. To draft the best to need to pay up.
Im hoping we keep 1 and use it and bring is some other 1sts.
Freo dropping like a stone has gifted Melbourne a real opportunity.
Future picks after the top 5 - 10 start adding 5 with all the ngs's and father sons going early next year.
Barrass trade to Swans may land a pick this year plus a F2nd.
Eagles: Pick 1 plus Swans F2nd
Melbourne: 4, 5 and...
If the Eagles match and a trade is needed then that $1.2m will come down.
How far who knows. IMO to get Gaff to move I'd suggest $900k pa is about right with the cap going up etc.
Agree that Norths offer $1.2m is crazy. Thats what Buddy is on for the next four years.
In effect Norths are paying 6 x $300k above the true market rate to avoid trading a mid first rounder plus steak knives. $1.8m.
Wow.
Will be interesting what it comes out being
Great win on the weekend Dees fans.:thumbsu:
Just wondering about the report that Preuss wants to come to Melbourne. This sounds quite strange for a player looking for opportunity.
Preuss is behind Goldstiegn who is older than Gawn. Young Wiederman is ripping it up ATM and is looking great...
You misunderstood.
Dees get the 2nd rounder from the Eagles. Pick 21 ish goes to the Dees plus Gaff for Brayshaw and an AFL compo pick around 11ish.
Dees simply need to stump up enough $ to land the Eagles a band 1 fa compo pick.
Dees lose Brayshaw get Gaff plus pick 21ish.
Because the Crows matched the fa bid or indicated in very clear terms that a single fa compo pick would not satisfy them and they would match any offer. They forced a trade.
You are on the right page.
Edited slightly. Danger was a restricted fa the same fa status as Gaff is now. If the Eagles feel that matching an offer to force a trade is beneficial they have the right to do so.
The scenario I raised is based upon both players agreeing / being interested in the...
On its own that is understandable but put in context with the Eagles agreeing to not matching a bid on Gaff to force a better deal it works out beneficial to both parties.
Based on exposed form, durability and history Gaff is worth more than Brayshaw and more than a single mid 1st round draft...
Good trade deals should have both parties satisfied.
Its not like it would be a rigged deal. Brayshaw has had concussion issues that would effect his trade value, thats not a lie. If he gets another two serious concussions it could be career over.
Not sure if serious!
Wouldnt be a silly proposition though.
Gaff elects Dees, West Coast agree to not match get 1st rounder.
Eagles send 2nd rounder (ex Gold Coast) to Dees for Brayshaw.
Dees get Gaff plus pick 21 loose Brayshaw.
Eagles get Brayshaw plus a 1st compo pick loose Gaff...
Cheers for that.
So who at Melbourne would you consider? Developing sides do tend to play younger players earlier and more often so they are good places to look for the cheap bench players / cash cows.
At the Eagles I have Ellis who if he can stay fit will get games early, $135 k for a 25 yr...
Savage you may have a chance but no way Anderson would move IMO.
He's living the dream with a couple of our NT boys in Cyril and Burgoyne at a super strong club in flag mode.:thumbsu:
No I would trade S Selwood if pick 2 in involved.
That's with him asking for a deal not being kicked out the door.:thumbsu:
Reports of player unrest before Worsfold retired and a change of coach also generates player movements. The Eagles could actually have an interesting trade period again.
You are right. The Demons need players with work ethic and heart, Yarran has none of this.
Roos will only trade in players who fit his mantra and that is team first, hard working and for pick 2 of course skilful.
What could the Eagles offer for pick 2?
I understand Gaff and Ash Smith were both Demons supporters as kids. Gaff ex pick 4 aged 21, Smith ex pick 28(I think) and 23. Smith is the steak knives in the deal I will admit. That or an exchange of later picks.
Roos does like recycling those quick...
For the sake of the sanity of the Dees supporters who have posted on here I hope you are right.
Because if next year Cale does a "Josh Hill" and comes out and plays some decent football it will be a very tough thread to re-read.
Brian Taylor comentry 2013 Eagles v Melbourne ;
" Naitanui...
Um why are Melbourne supporters getting all excited about a Shuey trade?
The kid is having his breakout year and is about to play his first final if he stays fit (touch wood) and from all reports is really enjoying his football ATM.
If a player was serious about on field success they...
What are your thoughts on ASh Smith from the Eagles?
His kicking / decision making is improving slowly and he is finally getting the confidence to run with the ball more. His highlight package from the U18's shows him bursting from defense, take a running bounce and then kicking long into the...
[/B]
Because pick 4 will the Eagles get an elite player like Heppell or Gaff.;):D
And pick 12 you get whats left after the first 11 picks...................in a already compromised draft.
Still good players at 12 but if your draft planning is specifying a certain type of player is needed...
