Brayshaw said during the game last night that Kyle Langford has spent most of his career in the backline. Totally incorrect. Langford was drafted as a forward, played there initially, was then tried as an inside mid, returned forward and then very briefly went to the backline before returning...
Watched this for the second time last night. Found it strange when the betting presenter pronounced Gryan Miers’s surname as ‘Mears’ rather than ‘Myers.’
This has been going on for a long time, especially from BT. I remember a game back in 2021 between Essendon and Carlton where BT kept talking up Essendon’s chances late and Bartel said to BT something like ‘I’m not buying what you’re selling.’
I am referring to the final four teams left standing. Finishing in the top four in the regular season simply means you are seeded fourth or higher entering the finals series. The results of the finals determines the final finishing positions.
One of the commentators in last night’s game mentioned Sydney beating two top four teams from last year so far this year. Longmire said something similar after the game at the press conference. Sydney have beaten Melbourne and Collingwood so far. Last year’s preliminary finalists: Collingwood...
The article states that the show became a ’victim of the pandemic.’ The pandemic did not stop Channel 9 showing Footy Classified twice a week and The Sunday Footy Show once a week even when there was no footy on. Talking Footy in its last incarnation was simply not very good and some changes...
It would be great to see Bruce return to commentate AFL games but it is probably unlikely. Even if he wanted to return, 7 have clearly shown a preference for commentators that muck around and Bruce is not that.
The first quarter of the second preliminary final was shocking. Starting with the first goal from Matthew Cottrell. He had a long run in towards the goals and then as he is about to kick, 7 switch to a close up of him.
Apart from the usual unnecessary close ups, one other thing annoying that happened during the Friday night game was when live play was in a mini screen in the bottom right corner while the main screen was showing a replay.
Perhaps it was a one-off but I remember one time, I think the last regular season round of 2005, where Barry Hall could have won the Coleman medal but kept passing the ball off and just fell short.
Hutchy surely has to stop with these West Coast tanking claims. When they lost to Essendon narrowly, he reckons they did not do their best to win. When they beat Bulldogs, he says Simpson tried to win on the basis that Simpson won’t be around to use pick one.
It was a bit strange in last night’s episode where the panellists were all talking up the talent that will go to the Gold Coast in the upcoming draft. Getting talent has not been that club’s issue. Retaining the talent and turning it into top half of the ladder finishes is the club’s issue.
Petitions have been tried before but not taken off for some reason. This one is from nearly a decade ago:

You have a point because as bad as some of the commentary is, sound can be turned down or off. But with the camera angles, either you watch what is presented to you or don’t watch.
The risk for Judd was that if he asked for a trade to Collingwood, preliminary finalists the year he left, and it fell through he would have gone to the pre-season draft where the at the time hapless Richmond had first pick. That must have come into his calculations in terms of which club to...
It used to be that when a star player left a club, they would go to a club at or near the bottom. Free agency and the ability to trade future draft picks have changed this whether we like it or not. Look at when Judd left West Coast and joined Carlton for an example of how it used to work.
