After reading your post, I checked my account. I was also on the 2 for $5 deal, and can confirm I also have my renewal set as $5 for the basic package, or the full $35 for the premium.
I became another user of the Kayo add-on for KODI, on my Xbox One. Have to say that it’s quite incredible; amazing quality, no stutters, easy to use. Plus the EPG features are a god-send.
It’s being worked on, alongside an app for the Xbox One, Android TV OS, and LG and Samsung TV’s (they don’t use Android TV OS).
I’ve not read anything regarding if or how they’re prioritising the development of the different platforms, or if they’re working on them all concurrently.
I’d be...
I’m the same (albeit for an LG). I’ve been watching the Telstra Mobile AFL stream on my TV via Kodi, but this isn’t a great solution (in terms of quality and ease of use). So being able to just switch the TV on and access the footy and all other sports in one app would be immense.
I remember reading that Kayo are developing apps for Smart TV's alongside their Console apps. They're currently working on a PS4 App, Xbox One App (although can watch Kayo via Edge browser currently) as well as apps for Samsung and LG TV's.
I wasn't overly confident, at first, since these...
They've stated that (alongside the apps for PS4 and XBO) they're working on developing apps for Samsung and LG TV's which run on native OS's, rather than Android. If they manage to create solid user experiences, then I can see this kicking off. I've always found Foxtel's Go/Now offerings to be a...
The AFL should make journalists sign contracts stating that any claim made by them in their stories must be verifiably true, and anything coming from them is their responsibility, such that they cannot hide behind the old line of "my sources say X" or "I've heard that X" (here's looking at you...
I know that this is the case in the US, but it simply wouldn't happen here since we don't have a number of local cable providers; we have Foxtel, Foxtel Play, Foxtel via Telstra, and then Optus' "fetch TV". There may be slight variations in rural communities, but those are largely rebranding...
Ideally, the AFL would go down the path of American sporting leagues and off a "League Pass" to stream matches in HD online. Now that we have the forced rollout of the NBN, then even those lagging behind in internet speed due to finances or not caring/knowing about higher speeds will have the...
This isn't Apple being behind - it's ChromeCast being glitchy and allowing us to mirror the AFL app when it's not meant to. Sure, it's a good result for us, but they'll patch it soon.
I wonder how much Optus paid for the rights to the EPL from foxtel. Something similar could be done......Telstra buying the full rights, perhaps? But given how the Live Pass is handled, that doesn't fill me with faith.
I initially used the AFL Live pass as a vastly cheaper alternative to Foxtel. But now that there is a 7" restriction, it's more or less unviable.
After checking out the price of the WatchAFL pass + getflix, it's actually cheaper for me to just pay for the Sport HD pack (on top of the basic pack...
Yeah, it's a complete joke.
I was given the standard package for free as part of my Telstra cable bundle, with the 3 months free of sport. Found out it's cost me $35 per month to keep it as is, or $25 to watch it in SD. At that price I'd rather get it through mobile and watch it on the small...
Streaming was made available to non-Telstra users last year, so it's not a valid excuse*
*Unless you're including last season, in which case carry on...
There's an update that's been released for the app. The quality of the AFL.tv stream seems to have improved, so it will be interesting to test it out on a live game tomorrow night.
I believe there are DNS server services that allow you to do so.
I can confirm that it is a yes for Telstra pre-paid. As for the others, I'm not sure.
Use their 24/7 LiveChat or ask them on twitter. Both methods don't result in you sitting on the phone for 30 mins!
For what it's worth, I've been watching on tv but just checked then, and it worked. It asked me to turn on location settings for the app, so maybe double check that you have done that, or even turn them off and on again.
I wasn't aware that this was the case. Up until now I've both heard from friends/family and read in reviews that the Google Play store is disappointing. I'll admit ignorance on that one.
Because, by and large, when people talk about any kind of mobile apps, it is generally assumed that they are referring to the iOS App Store. I'd say this is because the Google Play store is essentially still in its infancy when compared to the behemoth that is Apple's range of selections...
Yeah, I've got that free month on Xbox too. In all honesty, I preferred the ipad because, although its got a smaller screen, it doesn't get that jerkiness that the foxtel on Xbox can get when too much is going on at once.
I watched a bit of tonight's games on a family member's iPad 1, and I was very happy with the quality. So, suffice to say, you can go ahead and choose any version and it'll get the job done.
The iPad 2 should be more than capable of streaming these games. If you are really insisting on purchasing an iPad (which, in my opinion, is not ideal as they are very overpriced) then it would probably be worth spending the extra little bit to get the newer version. I only say that because...
The reason tethering worked last year was because Telstra identified you as an owner of the AFL Live pass was through your mobile IP address. It didn't matter what device you used, so long as it was using your mobile connection. Now the verification check is run purely in-app, so you wouldn't be...
Unfortunately, no. Personally, I'd go with the iPhone so that you have the ability to watch it whenever you're out and about, which I doubt is the case with your tablet. If you're worried about having to watch games on the small phone screen, you could always buy an HDMI cable for iPhones off of...
