So what you’re saying is that it wasn’t argued he deviated? Or the AFL just wanted Maynard to keep playing because the Pies are the biggest club in the game. Yet the AFL sent him to the tribunal…..
Yeah makes sense.
Free kicks are always paid without going to the tribunal. What you’re saying is anyone who has a free kick paid against them and gets sent to the tribunal is guilty.
How many times has that happened to Carlton players? Did they all get suspended?
I suppose the AFL makes adjustments all the time because of an act which may not lead to a suspension but injures a player ie sling tackles, sliding tackles etc.
So, what Maynard did obviously wasn’t against the rules, but they saw fit to make an amendment so that it is going forward.
Fairly...
Well I suppose it’s what and how an incident is argued. The ‘Car A and Car B’ analogy was clear. Maynard was in the air coming down (and he actually got a finger on the ball). A player coming forward in the opposite direction veering into you while you are in the air leaves you with no option...
You have conveniently left out the part of Brayshaw veering to the right after disposing of the ball. The tribunal took that into consideration as well in yet another adjustment you are expecting the player to make.
Well if Melbourne has allows him to play in the prelim (assuming they get over Carlton), questions over the club as well as the AFL should be asked.
If he was out cold for 2 mins and has had a history of concussion, both club and afl would be negligent to allow Brayshaw to play.
Maybe the AFL should call time on his career….in his best interest.
Imagine Martin ‘tackling’ Brayshaw with a swinging arm and clenched fist to his jaw. I’d hate to think of the result.
Or VR going in with the elbow nowhere near the ball and collecting him in the head? May have been all over...
I thought it was interesting watching the front on footage where Brayshaw actually moved his head slightly to his right just as Maynard crashed into him.
Have you seen it? Maybe if he hadn’t cowered, head contact would have been avoided.
What makes you think you do? I'm sure if you umpired a game as quick as the AFL, you would make your fair share of errors and have 'experts' point out how rubbish you are.
