He's uncontracted, has provided GC with 6 seasons of service and played almost 100 games.
If GC try to hold him there against his will, AFLPA will get involved. They are already agitating for free agency to be brought in sooner and this is a perfect scenario to sell that argument. AFL want to...
SPS and a pick... seriously?
SPS is going nowhere, why would Carlton trade a young and very promising mid when it's the area of the ground we have the greatest need right now?
I don't think Carlton supporters are too invested in McGovern, he'd be handy for sure, but we have greater needs. If another team pips us for his services and is willing to pay more to get a trade done then so be it.
It's not like we're in our premiership window and need him to complete the puzzle.
If McGovern is going to cost us more than pick 12-19 I'd rather we put more effort into Setterfield, Shiel etc or take that pick (assuming it eventuates) to the draft.
McKay, Curnow, Fisher the sort of value we've picked up around that range the last couple of years.
Regardless of where he goes you have to think Reid looks like an amateur in how he's handled the Gibbs deal and now how McGovern's contract has been handled.
The crows have a fantastic list, can't believe how badly they've screwed things up the last 12 months :/
Putting aside his age, I think the issue with Barlow is that we already have Cripps, Kennedy and Curnow who are in the mould of not very quick, mostly inside mids.
Either way we do need mids so if we couldn't land any such as Setterfield, Shiel etc he'd be a good free hit.
McGovern is an interesting one, I've been hearing the rumours for a while that there's mutual interest but I just can't see it happening.
He's contracted
We need midfielders much more
Adelaide will want more than he's worth (as is their right)
The role McGovern fills is what you fill once the...
Stringer issues aside, they seem like pretty quality pickups tbh. They're all young and heading into their prime over the next couple of years, can't see an issue with it.
Bombers still lack that big bodied mid, but you can't fill every need right away.
I think so, every club would feel like they're slightly losing out... which usually means it's about right.
Will probably never happen, but it's a pretty good effort.
This thread is hard to read, both set of fans are thick and petty.
...anyway, I couldn't imagine Richmond trading for 19 without having put this by Silvagni, so imagine this is part of the way to being finalised.
So reading between the lines both clubs have probably agreed to a deal and Richmond need pick 17 to make that happen, so would expect this to be wrapped up late Monday / early Tuesday.
No he wouldn't. He would miss out on hundreds of thousands of dollars and I seriously doubt he would be offered a contract anywhere near that value afterward.
We already know Yarran is an imbecile by the way he has behaved and not wanting to at least talk to the Hawks... but even he is not that...
No he's not. We all know Henderson is a quality CHB, he will be very good for Geelong.
The way he played out the second half of they year for us wasn't great but water under the bridge now. Best of luck to everyone in this deal.
Whether bombers fans like it or not, having the WADA case looming over Carlisle significantly decreases his trade value.
There is absolutely no way any club would give up pick 5.
5 is way overs for Carlisle considering he is under suspension cloud, out of contract and nominated the Saints. Would imagine St Kilda having to either trade a young player (unlikely) or procure a pick between 10-20 for him.
Will be interesting to see how the supposedly unreasonable at the...
Garlett has significant off-field issues to sort out and needs a fresh start, we did all that we could to keep him. He's up there with the best small forwards in the game and got pretty much nothing for him.
Bad timing, but not much more we could have done. Best of luck to Jeffy and hopefully...
Collingwood proving to be the best traders couple of years running. Not sure if Buckley is the best coach, but he's managed to really overhaul the list with some quality players and picks. Have done very well
At the least, though I personally cannot see him being traded. Malthouse has stated we need more midfield runners and toward the end of the season played well on the wing. I would think a club would need to have a very good offer for us to trade
