If Hogan has another year like his 2023 effort he will be a massive success story for us and as one previous posted stated one of the few benefits our club has.
Pair that with our pretty competitive club record and it almost makes us a destination for talented players who have strayed looking...
I wonder how in love with it they are....as many have discussed here it's not a huge upgrade anyway and Cadman/Derksen/Gruz likely to take the mantle soon anyway
Sure....but salary dump when you give up a pick coz you're a desperate expansion team.....otherwise is just a trade 😅
Its less of a 'dump' if the bin is giving you something valuable back. Magpies still got 27 out of that deal.
I should have added. 'salary dump where you give up a pick' but...
'Salary dump' is a dirty phrase that only gets used when talking about GC (they did it so I guess that's fair) and US....coz we also expansion team I guess....?
GWS gave up Hopper for that pick 7. It's prized with the selections available...why would anyone wanna drop back 3 spots where the...
My guess is if you don't need him you shouldn't bring him over on a 3 year (or so) contract or so just to try get a pick.
I think the only way he goes anywhere is if he's playing 1s and it extends his career.
Obviously you guys aren't gonna give us pick 10. Just like we aren't gonna give you...
Wow. I wish I hadn't read all of that....plenty of wishful thinking imo.
People throwing around top ten picks for a bit of cap relief.
How much cap space would the Crows put on their pick 10? Whats it worth? Maybe they could take Haynes. We will pay all of his contract and we get pick 10?
I think if the Giants were to move on Haynes the chance of it being pick 7 are unbelievably low. Pick 15....still very low.
If it's a second rounder and a percentage of the salary I can see it I guess.
Would Adelaide even have that kind of cap space? They are at a similar stage in their...
It's one year left. We don't have any trade targets that we can't get done with the picks we have.
Unless there is a big fish you think we are after I don't see an issue with holding him as very good cover for our backline in a year we will be competing for a flag.
I understand what the Suns...
Lol I read that in such an aggressive tone it made me laugh.
Surely his brother can teach him to do SOMETHING for us. Kingsley has made many guys on our list that were looking average into really serviceable roleplayers.
Keefe, Xavier O'Halloran, Bedford (pick 40ish)
Riccardi was pretty non...
I reckon this one gets done pretty easily. Not sure if he will get games but I guess a big preseason and a new atmosphere might help him break out a little more.
I don't think I've seen much of him tbh but size and style he is maybe an upgrade on Keefe.
Honestly people thinking the Giants would hand over either of their first round picks are bloody deluded.
I get it you want something for your club.
But our cap is fine, they'll just ride out the contract and keep him around. If he wants to go play a bigger role at St Kilda, North or Hawthorne...
Yeah if it was a F2 I'd be okay with that I guess.
It's not 1.4 😅
McCartney and GWS love high draft picks too much to give first rounders up 😉
He's actually been really good this year, I reckon he probably has 2-3 seasons left in him
McCartney and Kingsley have said it publicly around the Himmel contract.
The points difference might only be a second rounder but we all know the difference between a pick that gives you access to the top 8 or so elite talent and everything after it.
Feel free to hope for it but it won't...
Haynes is still in very good form, there is no chance they will give him up with a first round pick to take him.
It's one year left. The cap is under control now, I can see someone coming after him with us paying some of the contract but that's about it.
Feels like the right deal with so much youth on the squad and he's a 'local guy'.
I think he's worth the cash. 800 to pry him out was always gonna be a lot for other clubs.
I still think he has scope to go forward too.
Way overs. I understand the enthusiasm, but I if Himmel re-signs we won't even have one of those picks and I highly doubt a future first will be involved.
Two top ten picks and maybe a second rounder will probably get the deal done depending on if WCE can get the 2 players they want with those...
I agree that spending anywhere near 800k to prise him out of GWS is a bad idea.
At 650k over multiple years he is worth it, he rarely misses games and has been a game winner multiple times this year as a swingman. He can be elite in the backline when playing the intercept/rebound distributer...
Spoken like someone who hasn't seen Riccardi play in the AFL.
He's currently being kept out of the squad by an 18 year old after losing his spot to him.
Interesting idea about taking Whitfields contract on....I still bloody hate the idea of giving up a pick to dump a salary...I doubt GWS would...
I actually don't think he would mind playing as a defender. He's deadly back there. Giants just NEED him to be a forward.
I agree he isn't worth band 1 unless you play him as a defender. He's prime Haynes adding on elite disposal.
With multiple teams interested I can see bidding increasing.
I'd probably match at 600k.
End of first round probably isn't gonna do it for us when we will likely have two top ten picks anyway.
Yeah I get that.
Structurally he's quite important at the Giants so I don't see him walking away easily. It'll depend on how we go I think. How well Kingsley's new plan is implemented.
Would Himmelberg be looking at the Tigers as a place he could go win?
Haven't Taranto and Hopper kinda worked as a tracers rounds that that might not be the case.
Obviously he would improve the Tigers list and they might rebound but you'd be paying 7-800k for a guy who isn't your future...
