8 marks in a half, 3 off opposition kicks, zero turnovers.
Also, because they aren't a disposal, I don't think his two errors are technically clangers.
Our AFL side had more holes in it than Jarlsburg in the first half of the year. When all the troops were back, he got dropped.
The team's defence does seem to work better with de Koning and a few "hybrid" medium-tall defenders.
Oh, look, if you actually know a change is coming, then you can make contingency plans for it (like North did with the 10 year rule in 1973) - but just don't plan solely around it happening.
My old local footy coach played for Carlton in '94. Played one game. Came on, missed a tackle, got dragged - no kicks, no handballs, no stats, no more games, nothing. Poor bastard
Admittedly I didn’t see last weekend, but for the month before he wasn’t exactly tearing it up.
He’s still a good footballer. But he is pretty clearly not the elite ruckman he once was.
He is still in the VFL, and did not exactly smash it out of the park in either league.
He probably still starts at 12 clubs in the league - including mine - but he is not 2018 Grundy.
Hopper also isn’t a potential train wreck. He will definitely play out eight or so very good seasons with Richmond, no questions asked.
Thomas is a massive risk. Yes, he is hugely talented, but he is 23 and hasn’t yet become the star that was touted. More to the point, he could absolutely blow...
On the con side, Grundy has now gone through two clubs and fallen out of favour, and that’s not a good look. It’s also very different to Lobb who was very much a required player at both clubs… plus he can play forward.
I agree with all of the critique about him. That said, I would take Edmund's proclamations from three weeks ago with a grain of salt.
You know what you're getting with Parish. He's not hugely defensively disciplined, he's not particularly quick or a big kick, he doesn't kick a lot of goals. But...
Pobody's nerfect eh ;)
Look, the guy averages 30 touches/game. Yes, some of them might be seagull on a chip touches, but we really don't have any midfielders who can be so involved across the full game any more, not since Dangerfield got old.
Given that rumours have linked Parish to Geelong for at least the last two years, I suspect that there's isn't really a figure that would get him to stay. (Beyond, of course, Tom Boyd level cash.)
