I would imagine nine's finance department would have access to the list, I take your point though.
Going off another list that uses the same method (indexes NYC to 100) all of the COLs for Perth, Sydney and Melbourne are reasonably similar (Perth admittedly ahead). These are the oft quoted...
And pay money on top of that, you're borrowing against your equity! Not the same as having it as cash in the bank, it makes it a lot harder to yield positive returns on investments.
I'm not the one who brought up the returns on investing in the Sydney housing market.
Did you even watch your own video champ?
Sydney number 3, well done.
Besides, this is CPI which doesn't include rental index. The figures I have put up are current too.
As I said previously that is money they cannot invest elsewhere and will not have access to while it is tied up in a house. So there is an opportunity cost associated with purchasing a house in those areas that offsets the final return.
Same reason people invest in the stock market and not...
Then why shouldn't all players be entitled to the same purchasing power relevant to their individual talents? Why should a Sydney player of equal talent to a Hawthorn player be forced to live in a shitter neighbourhood or house?
Ah no because the extra money they had to spend on a house is money they couldn't invest elsewhere. Therefore there are other returns they are foregoing by having their money tied up in an illiquid house.
No it isn't. Going off the website you quoted.
Rent index (NYC: 100)
Perth: 64.71
Sydney: 81.50
I think that is a pretty fair comparison/extremely relevant.
You may well be right. However continues assertion that it is completely unjustified appears to be unfounded. It's the 10th most expensive city in the world. Perth and Melb aren't mentioned.
I am not it's biggest proponent, I am just sick of the constant whinging and derailing of threads.
Because by the looks of things Sydney is the outlier, there is no mention of any other Australian cities in the article which means none of them must have any significance in the rankings.
