Should have moved back to Subi once the demolition was done [emoji854]
Not sure where else they could have gone though. Nothing really close to the city unless they purpose built something but where?
Playing in winter would surely get less casual fans through the gates as they are preoccupied with Australia’s sports
I am minimal chance of going to a Glory game during the footy season but will go a few times during the summer
The fact it is a state as opposed to a region helps its cause a great deal. It means it is able have proper government support. You think the NSW government are really going to support a third team in the bush? Tasmanian government will through thick and thin support their team. They’re already...
Insular Vic not knowing the positive impact of moving the grand final would have on the growth in NSW and consolidating it as the country’s number 1 sport
Contracts are there to be broken! Taking the Grand Final to Sydney would be groundbreaking and a great thing for football.
The world won’t cave in if it leaves the MCG
Yeh and they were going to demolish it and build a new one but they changed the idea. If the grand final is hosted outside of Melbourne this year, it will be the straw that breaks the camels (victorians) back (contract).
Hosting AFL Grand Finals is a big enough reason to change refurb plans...
If Stadium Australia hosts the GF this year, I wonder how that changes the refurb plans in the future. Would it become a rectangle stadium with the option of oval for big events ala Grand Finals?
They cooked the idea of Joondalup as a city as soon as the urban sprawl was the model they went with rather than make a "Perth" Zoning and strictly differentiate between the two.
If Australian Football truly wins the north and become the first choice sport in Qld and NSW there would be a huge increase in the talent pool.
On a side note. The standard of the game or as i prefer to say the standard of the bad teams, has dropped off significantly, as bad clubs are so much...
I like the thinking that maybe we could have a third, I just don't think you'll get West Coast only focusing on a third of the city. The club focuses on the whole state.
I wouldn’t have thought so. If anything the demons probably get a payout by said new club. But are they Perth Football Club or Perth Demons Football Club?
There’s many ways around it anyhow.
Agreed, West Coast’s name is unique in the AFL. Similar like in the USA where teams have the state name instead of the city. UtahJazz, Minnesota Timberwolves, Arizona Cardinals, Florida Panthers.....
IF there was a WA3 introduced, the logical thing would be to call it Perth and I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of Perth living interstate supporting fans jumped on board.
People that follow a VFL side because their dad has a favourite player that went from their WAFL team to that VFL side...
No thanks on the AFL reserves. I’d rather my clubs players play men in the wafl than a glorified colts competition. Might make sense in Victoria but not in the wa or sa
