Maybe a dying tree falls onto the scoreboard?
Or... as the scoreboard has already been moved... maybe it can be incorporated somehow into a new stand, or between stands ect?
Poll is needed... 27 grounds been used in the AFL era I think...
For me, I don't really hate any ground, but footy park is right up there with most disliked.
IMO they haven't had a game there for three reasons... 1. Probably aren't a fan of playing on an oval, 2. The SMA and the AFL clubs are probably against it and 3. A crowd of 50k in a state that isn't a rugby state would put the NRL crowds of 10k for the other weekends games to shame and the NRL...
Yep, and Adelaide United would be able to have the ground (United Stadium) as a home base and train there rather than out at lizbef. The ground could have a multilevel car park underneath for parking all year round.
The only downside is that the SMA would most likely get control of the stadium...

This is in todays paper... Would be great I think to see a rectangular stadium in the city next to AO... but...
Ive got a feeling AO this Sunday will have an atmosphere that it has never seen before... 50k mad soccer fans will out do 50k mad footy fans... especially when WSW is one of the sides involved... Will be epic!
The hill be gone sooner than we think... With how the world is getting so PC, Im sure a government will soon ban people from standing while watching sport if there are more than say 10k people (allowing for a big local game of footy). Back at Footy Park that wouldn't have bothered port as they...
Dunno what the reasoning behind it is, but why have they taken the LED displays around the fence at ground level, and moved them in 2meters for the cricket? Surely that is a waste of time?
Looked to be a great crowd last night, and what a game! Travis Heads last 15 balls goes straight to the...
I can understand Sydney wanting to build a massive stadium for rectangular purposes. Ideally the stadium would be designed to completely close the upper level for the majority of events, and only have it open for big games (SOO, Australia games, GF).
The advantage of a correctly built 80k seat...
AO is now almost finished (since the finance review is almost complete) and we all know there is the option of developing the hill should in 10yrs extra seats be needed.
What the SA Government now need to do is get rid of the s**t 'stadium' in Hindmarsh, and build something new, that has...
Yes AO is multi purpose, but the majority of the income now is going to come from footy. 22 h&a games + any finals will provide a hell of a lot more income than half a dozen shield games @1k punters per game, 1 or 2 international games and half a dozen Big Bash games (the International and Big...
20 min to get a beer... didn't bother trying to get food, the line was about 100deep.
Yep but considering all but the ground level of riverbank was closed and the top parts of the Chappel/Bradman/Smith stand were all closed that equals a fair part of the empty seats... but the SMA probably...
I didn't really like AO as a soccer venue. I felt we were too far away from the pitch which was a shame, and you couldn't hear the Army chants but I guess to have more than 13k at a game it has to be at AO.
How many people went? Was everyone else amazed that half the bars and food places were...
Can you please provide the ICC rules that state these new regulations they require for the venues. Apparently a new venue being developed for the 2020 WC excludes the regulation?
Well given the BE at AO is 33k for the football teams, and the red backs will be lucky for 2k if fair to say the...
Why not... when I was living in the NT the federal government pulled all money for roads until the NT government removed open speed limits. The NT is going back to open speed limits now as the accident rate increased with a restricted limit.
Governments can do as they see fit with the money. If...
Maybe not for the ground, but they do rely on state funding. There two Platinum sponsors are health way and alcohol.think.again which are both Government departments, and a Gold sponsor is Department of Sport and Rec.
And since CA and ICC have said the WACA doesn't live up to international...
Cricket Australia, WA government and public pressure will ensure cricket is played at the new stadium when it is built.
The WACA if they refuse to move, will have government funding removed (ie. no funding for any upgrades at the WACA, no funding for cricket programs) as well as any funding from...
I think there are a few key factors that need to be considered for any new stadium that is built:
1. Location. Most important thing is where the stadium will be. location for the Perth stadium has been set already, and I dont know Perth one iota but assume the location is an A
2. External look...
How far back do we go with this? and what sporting events do we include?
Been to for AFL games:
MCG
AO
Gabba
Footy park
TIO (Darwin)
Treagar Park (Alice Springs)
Etihad
Alberton
WACA
Others:
Hindmarsh (soccer)
Aami Park (soccer/rugby)
Darwin Soccer Stadium (soccer) unsure its real name
Some...
That looks fantastic.
Will the apartments be overlooking the oval? If they are, I rekon they would be snapped up fairly quickly.
It wouldnt happen, but if they did something like that at Alberton Oval, Id fork out* to get an apartment overlooking the oval (as long as the Magpies still played...
Ahh thats dumb... should just announce the top 10 and show the public, then along with the public choose the best one! Unless of course no government money is involved and its wholey private funded, then let the choose whatever.
Yep right now 53.5k seats is enough. when the time comes an extra 15-20k seats will be added. With the scoreboard, I think they will still keep it, and maybe relocate it to sit between what would be the new stand and the old chappel stand (not sure what the new one is called officially as it has...
But apart from the Wanderers, the other sides at most would only need a 20,000 seat stadium, unless its a big match.
If they could build a stadium, where by shutting off the top tear, and reducing from 40k to 20k reduced also by half the operational costs, then it may be worth it. Take it from...
Alex is just concerned, that the Crows supporters in wheelchairs won't be able to leave a 3qtr time in all the games when the crows are loosing like the rest of that mob... and he has a point. How will they escape watching their team collapse on the field? :P
