I can't speak for anyone else, I have my own reason for enjoying the English loss. For years we suffer English people looking down their noses at the way Australians celebrate sporting successes. They claim Australians are infantile, that winning a "mere sporting event" means too much to those...
Did people see the footage of the reporter getting verbally abused and have liquid (presumably alcohol) thrown over him? Apparently, according to some of their thug fans, it was the reporter's fault they lost. Nothing funnier in world sport than watching England beaten.
No "real goals" in the final so far. Nil-all heading to extra time. What a snore-fest. Kick siome goals you grossly over-rated and over-paid w***ers!!!!!!
Exactly right. I can't see how our Government can justify the expense of bidding for the World Cup, let alone hosting it. And if I see one person with one of the bloody vuvuzelas, I'll shoot them.
I'm willing to strike a deal with the Herald Sun. I'll stop writing crap about soccer when they stop writng crap about Aussie Rules. If anyone needs to grow up, it's the football media.
Gee, I hope nobody thinks I'm a bandwagoner, I've followed the Hawks since 1968 :)
As for the OP, soccer goals are great, they are spectacular ... pity we hardly ever see them :)
I just find it refreshing that some people aren't prepared to put up with the abysmal standard of reporting in this country. Well done FFA, at least you aren't scared of the media like the AFL are.
Yes, I have to admit I'm struggling to understand what the fuss is all about. I can appreciate the individual skills of some of the players, but as a game it's so boring to watch. Mind you, AFL is in danger of heading in the same ditrection.
It was Graham Kennedy style ad-lib .. rehearsed ad-libs, but that's okay so long as it's funny. I got a chuckle out of it, and I think it will do okay, especially once the matches have started and they can spend their time talking about what happened rather than inventing stuff.
Good effort...
With the way the MRP over-reacts to anything slightly physical, and the way our precious umpires hand out 50 metre penalties if players look at them funny, a game wouldn't last to 3/4 time with a send off rule.
Unfortunately, there's a new wave of cricket fan who has been enticed to the game by 20/20 which means nothing to the purist like myself, but cricket has made an attempt to appeal to those who previously thought it boring, create a new market as it were.
Soccer makes no such attempt. It's...
Yep, they get excited because they hold an International match at the MCG and 70,000 people turn up. That's not because it's soccer, it's because it's Australia playing sport against another country. You hold any international contest involving Australia, no matter what the sport, and people...
