To finish the weekend off we got a play in of ...
Had heard the intent of this game was to imitate the feeling and stress of playing a sealed MTG tournament.
Boy did it deliver in spades!!! Was mentally fried by the end of it, sooooooo many cards, so many options, so little time.
For anyone...
Least favorite of the bunch so far. Maybe we just got lucky but it seemed to quick and easy for me. Started with a wonderful concept but didn't deliver from there on :(
so with extra time, back to ...
3 players with no expansion. Final scores of 28, 28, 29. Such a nicely balanced game...
A new addition and a nice one at that.
Played a normal base game from the box and was really impressed.
Then downloaded the print and play of the expansion from the kickstarter page and had a crack with that too.
Lots of sweet agonising choices and great dice manipulation. This will be...
El Gaucho - Had a few plays of this now and it's a definite keeper. The art is very deceptive, it looks light and fluffy, but damn it's actually a real brain burner.
Ancient Terrible Things - A new pick-up and first play. Good fun little dice roller with great art. Some nice strategy, but a...
Another one down :)
Again great fun but a little more linear than previous adventures.
A big step forward in the slowly evolving overarching story line.
Just loving this game/series.
Another fantastic evening had by all.
Totally different feel to the original scenario. Well designed to put you in a frame of mind and hold you there.
Not quite as clean as the first but still well worth the $$ and time.
Will say it's easy to try to push through this faster as you already...
Not going to say much about it other than, if you haven't tried it you really should.
Very memorable 4 hours of gameplay, instantly purchased the next 4 cases after finishing.

After a layoff for a bit it was back to playing this weekend :)
First up was Nippon, really surprising game, easy to pick up, simple quick turns but everything matters so much. Quite a bit of indirect player interaction (screwage) for a Euro. Add some area control scoring and this is one of the...
Took on a monster this weekend and it was GLORIOUS!!!!!
A 5 player learning game of Food Chain Magnate.
Head exploded after about 20 mins and continued to explode throughout the 6 hour game. (Made this long by players selecting mid to long game, hidden, cards early in the game)
FANTASTIC game...
Just took on the beast that is Twilight Imperium 3.
A lot of work to learn the game but a rewarding exercise, really deserves its epic standing, just hard to get a game that complex and long to the table on many occasions :(
If ever you get the chance to try it out don't pass it up :)
The list is in my personal preference order.
Lords of Waterdeep is a great next step, simple to play but with good strategy depth.
I own and play all 20 and would recommend each and every one.
16 - No Thanks
No Thanks! is a card game designed to be as simple as it is engaging.
The rules are simple. Each turn, players have two options:
play one of their chips to avoid picking up the current face-up card
pick up the face-up card (along with any chips that have already been played on...
11 - Suburbia
Suburbia is a tile-laying game in which each player tries to build up an economic engine and infrastructure that will be initially self-sufficient, and eventually become both profitable and encourage population growth. As your town grows, you'll modify both your income and your...
6 - Kingsburg
In Kingsburg, players are Lords sent from the King to administer frontier territories.
The game takes place over five years, a total of 20 turns. In every year, there are 3 production seasons for collecting resources, building structures, and training troops. Every fourth turn is...
Probably overkill but here are 20 recommendations:
1 - Lords of Waterdeep:
In Lords of Waterdeep, a strategy board game for 2-5 players, you take on the role of one of the masked Lords of Waterdeep, secret rulers of the city. Through your agents, you recruit adventurers to go on quests on your...
