Yes, I'm aware of the molten salt energy storage concept.
As far as I know only 1 industrial plant in the world actually has it in place (Spain).
The salt can only store so much. If you get a bad stretch of weather, you may well deplete your reserves and need other sources of power.
Not saying...
Pfft, they've spent an absolute shitload on something that is useful as supplementary power source during the day, but useless during the night and less effective in bad weather. They've run away from nuclear like a bunch of scared little nancy boys for idealogical reasons that fly in the face...
