His policies have pretty much all been "right wing" from detention centres, stay-at-home mothers, anti-gay marriage, cloning, welfare cutbacks, IR rules......the list goes on.
He might be "left" within the Liberal Party, but he's not "Left' in mainstream Australian politics.
I live in the seat of Makin, and on current polling it won't even be a MARGINAL Labor seat, it will be a safe one. Of course, plenty can change in the next 6 or so months. Tony Zappia is a fine candidate for the ALP here though and has a much higher profile than the Liberal one, who was in the...
Ok. The way I read his document is that it hasn't yet been updated with the 2007 redistributions. They only came out last week.
It should be an interesting campaign here in SA. I'm not sure how the Libs are going to tackle this state. Bringing John Howard in might be a mistake the way...
We got a speeding ticket the day we were leaving Victoria for SA, for doing 104 km/hr on a country highway in the middle of nowhere. We couldn't even figure out where it was as the location was "Section X Hundred of Y". It's blatant revenue raising.
Their margins have changed due to redistributions. I haven't got the figures handy, but I know a 6th seat was mentioned as a possible but I can't remember which one.
I think Tony is around about 40, but I'm not sure. He's been Mayor of Salisbury for some time-was recently re-elected.
Draper announced her retirement some time ago-citing "family reasons". Frankly, I think she knew she was likely to get the boot this election anyway. She'll be on a massive...
I'm helping Tony Zapia this time around-he's the current Mayor of Salisbury so has a pretty high profile and lost by a very slender margin last election after making up heaps of ground.
The Liberals sitting member (Trish Draper) has quit so they have a newbie running (with plenty of skeletons...
On current polling, Labor could take up to 5 seats off the Libs in SA. That will only increase given the Howard Vs Rann debate re water. Most South Australians support Rann's stance on having a non-political group in charge of the Murray Darling basin. Howard stands to lose a lot of support in...
In my view the major problem with "satellite cities" is that they cater to too narrow a demographic. The whole development tends to target one age group/income level etc as Noarlunga and Elizabeth both did. I grew up in Reynella/Morphett Vale and a fair percentage of the population down there...
Kennett also closed a sh**load of schools and cut back public sector spending bigtime. Bracks has since returned it to previous levels. Now obviously, you and I will disagree as to who's right in this area! Truth be told, I think somewhere in the middle is best but it's never going to happen...
I was in the Latrobe Valley when Kennett was in power. That was when the SEC was sold off. He probably made the right economic decision but put absolutely no thought into the social ramifications. Thousands of workers lost their jobs in a fairly short period and had nowhere to go-except...
I lived in Victoria under the Bracks Government for 3 1/2 years and had no complaints. Also lived there under Kennett and had plenty of complaints. I'm neither wealthy nor poor, very much "middle class" but Kennett made some decisions which very badly affected the area I lived in at the time.
If SA got rid of pokies altogether, what on earth would Nick "Political Stunt" Xenophon do for a career?
I honestly don't see the need for them EVERYWHERE and especially for them to be able to be accessed from the wee hours of the morning until after midnight. There are less restrictions on...
IMO they should only have ever been allowed in licensed sports clubs ie footy clubs, community clubs etc. Letting them in the pubs was a big mistake.
I had a minor problem with gambling once but got on top of it quickly, before it became a major one. I just ended up with an alcohol problem...
I've just booked flights to Gold Coast and back using Frequent Flyers and had no problems getting flights. We flew with Jetstar last time-and never again. The service on Qantas was far superior.
The main thing that worries me with it being sold off is that most of the stewards won't be...
Every one copes differently-just like we all cope differently with grief. The end of a relationship is a grieving process. People handle it differently. Some people take longer than others to "move on". Some never do.......
Carlyp, next time you feel like smsing him, go for a walk in the fresh...
There are non-monetary ways of advantaging Qantas too in regard to locations etc within the terminal. It all gets a bit murky when someone has a major stake in both the airport and an airline.
I'm not sure how the ACCC will view it yet. MacQuarie Bank has a major interest in Sydney Airport and I can hear the other airlines squealing "conflict of interest" already.
Hopefully when they get locked up, they'll get a severe dose of their own medicine. My understanding is that there is a form of "hierarchy" within the inmates and that rapists and child abusers cop it pretty rough when inside.
I know it won't help the girl now, but you'd like to think...
Well I'm going to check under my bed tonight before I retire. You never know what might be lurking in the shadows.
I'm now getting a better understanding of how Cronulla happened though-and it's just plain sad.
There'd be no "sympathisers" if only he'd been tried in fair court. If he's guilty, then why hasn't he been found to be so I mean, given the overwhelming evidence posted on bigfooty.com, which we all know is the court of law.
well I sincerely hope that they let her in-and we don't let her back.
I'm so sick of her whiny, nasally whinging all the time. It's UnAustralian Pauline!
