So far this morning :
Monster Magnet - Monolithic Baby
The Darkness - One Way Ticket To Hell... And Back
Velvet Revolver - Contraband (Currently on track 9, Set Me Free)
This is really sad. What a top bloke he was.
I first cottoned on to his Insomnia program on PBS around 1992 when I was still in high school. A lot of the stuff he played was by bands I had only heard bits and pieces of, and he also played a lot of stuff I'd never heard before. It's fair to...
Good get, that. Hugely underrated song.
I'm surprised I haven't heard it even ONCE since Triple M here in Melbourne adopted their mostly 80s format. All they've done is play their usual tripe, and added a bit of Duran Duran and Billy Idol.
Currently playing :
Tony Iommi & Glenn Hughes -...
Edguy - Return to the Tribe
The "Rocket Ride" album has barely been out a week, and I only bought it yesterday, but track 5 has already got me as an early contender.
Mostly agree, but live albums are essentially a greatest hits package too, especially the ones made up from various gigs as opposed to a single gig.
Here's my approximate 10, in no specific order.
Rainbow - Rising
Uli Jon Roth - Transcendental Sky Guitar
D.A.D. - Riskin' It All
Judas...
The Who - Who's Better, Who's Best
Megadeth - Capitol Punishment
Iron Maiden - Best of the Beast double CD
MSG - Armed and Ready
They're the only 4 I've got in my collection that DON'T have important songs missing, so I rate them the highest.
I can't believe an international band, albeit a low key one, would play a place like that (it used to be my local when I lived in Mitcham). Stage the size of a postage stamp, and those guys like to move around. Holds about 14 people! (although the set-up may have changed since they played)...
Not naming any bands twice...
60s - Led Zeppelin
70s - Rainbow/Judas Priest/Ted Nugent/Deep Purple/UFO/Scorpions... could name a million
80s - MANOWAR/Iron Maiden/Helloween
90s - Blind Guardian/Megadeth
00s - Edguy/At Vance
Kotzen was also CC DeVille's replacement in Poison, and for quite a long time it was what he was most famous for, especially in the mainstream. That might answer Carlos' original query as to why he's not talked about - because of the stigma that being in Poison might have carried.
Oxx, you...
They're not terrible, but from what I've heard (got some friends who are big fans and give the CDs a fair belt when I'm at theirs), they seem very one dimensional. But hey, AC/DC made a 30 year career out of that, so whatever floats your boat...
On the power metal side of things, Edguy have a new CD out in two weeks (European release 23rd Jan), and Blind Guardian, Pegazus and Lost Horizon are scheduled to follow with new releases about mid-year.
Edguy usually follow up their new releases with a tour, and have been to Australia on...
Keith Moon (The Who)
Dave Lombardo (Slayer etc)
Stewart Copeland (The Police)
Felix Boehnke (Edguy)
Thomen Stauch (Blind Guardian)
Clive Burr (ex-Iron Maiden)
Philthy Animal Taylor (ex-Motorhead)
Charlie Benante (Anthrax)
Corky Laing (Mountain)
Pavel Konvalinka (Black Majesty)
Ian...
