And for this scenario to happen you need clubs to be willing to offer a contract worthy of band one, too many ifs for Carlton to be "forcing" someone out even if we wanted to. You don't chance something like this.
Obviously with the way free agency works you need to pay overs to get players to...
Hang on a minute, doesn't Kreuzer have to entertain and go with this new proposed contract before we have the option to "match" the offer? Hardly pushing someone out if they've accepted a contract.
Finally someone with some sense. As with all subjective decisions you can't please everyone, especially when it's as tight as this. Whoever wins it will thoroughly deserve it and the other will be extremely unlucky as they would have won it in any other year.
Some people here, in the media (and...
In terms of athleticism he's like Jobe Watson, will never be a Fyfe like dynamic player but still expect him to be able to rest forward and outmark his opponent.
I don't understand the need for people to try and find limitations in Betts' game. We all know what he does and how he plays, imo he's been the best small forward in the league for quite some time.
Eddie's "problem" is he has a dodgy knee and was offered big money on an extended contract, he's...
The fact that one non Carlton poster ITT wrote about Cripps shows to me that you guys rating our kids in fact know very little about them ;)
It's very easy to spout rhetoric without anything backing it up
Beams will probably be the better midfielder, but Rockliff is so versatile and strong when used as an isolated forward. I guess it doesn't matter who is better, they're going to have one hell of a midfield.
Who would have thought Brisbane would be in this position 12 months ago...
Exactly right, the whole debate is very tiresome and stupid. They both bring different qualities to their teams and each side wouldn't swap for the other, that's a great sign of how good both are.
Anyway, congrats to Hawthorn... what an awesome performance in such a difficult year. Great club...
If that's the case, that's obviously a really stupid way to do it and a reflection of the ineptness of the administration. You don't do it with just one person, you split it across a few (or more) to reduce your risk.
There's nothing stopping you paying players what their worth and front loading the bigger contracts.
Melbourne have improved a lot this year, they've fallen away recently like a lot of the inexperienced teams. They will improve again next year and they don't need a priority pick.
haha right, take a look at the team on the weekend and tell me which "old" players we rely on http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_match_statistics?mid=5889
I'll grant you Chris Judd, that's it. Bigfooty's fascination with youth is more important than having a good team, how did that work out...
The thing with these threads is nobody ever gets close to predicting how a team will fare in the future. Nobody predicted Richmond to be as poor as they have been this year, Port to have the resurgence they have had in 18 months or Sydney to rebuild as quickly as they did with Roos leaving etc...
Great for TV, not great for those wishing to attend. For some reason we tend to get all the Thur, Sun and Mon night games.
Considering the atmosphere we have had over the last five or so years with the opener vs Richmond, this game felt very strange and flat.
Modra hands down. Every kid in primary school was trying to take hangers like him at lunch time. He would have easily been the most popular player amongst kids and this is in Victoria!
You're right, he's probably the most likely. If he plays a swing man role again I think it would be very hard to be selected unfortunately.
Who will have the better year: Taylor, Henderson or Carlisle?
He finished outside the top 5 in 2011, a year in which he was a starter in the all australian and widely regarded as being in the top handful of players in the league.
I think you need to chill out a bit...
The AFL and the clubs would have the statistics on how many turned up per side if that's what you're worried about. I don't think they would be looking at one game in isolation when making decisions on whether Carlton can play more home games at the MCG...
