If you are going to give the players challenges you might as well bring in tactical timeouts as well as that is what they would use them as. 1 minute left in the game, 3 points up, challenge remaining, ball punched through for a behind on the line. I'd like to challenge that thanks. Give...
Those drafts are not the reason they are bad now. Might be the reason they will still be a bad side in 3 years time but you have to look further back than that for the reason they are where they are.
They have lost to 3 teams they beat last year so far.
Ross keeps it close so you can blame an umpire decision or a bounce of the ball for losing, which Saints supporters cling to.
Same old, same old.
Not going to get it done when it matters.
I never understood this with Hawthorn supporters. We've ragged doll Richmond so many times over the years it is a little more understandable with them having traumatic childhoods getting reamed by Geelong.
I must have missed the hype. My perspective on LDU was that he was picked out as a draft bust early and he has developed into a decent player since
It's a cycle.
Geelong draft players and incrementally improve them year on year until they become good AFL players.
Because they are not flashy top 10 picks they don't start at a high base or with fan fare from the media or opposition supporters.
When Scott started he has brought through...
The AFL are creating the anomalies with the fixture.
The fixture has always been skewed but they have taken it to the next level in the last few years.
Good teams deliberately get a hard start to the season for ratings. s**t teams / teams AFL propping up in expansion markets deliberately get...
If he kicked his 4th from 30m out in a low scoring game it would nearly be in the bag. Leaves it open for someone with 30 touches and less impact to get it.
From a coaching perspective Longmuir has been ok IMO. Very Bomber Thompson like in instilling the defensive principles first. Even King/Ottens is a parallel to Darcy/Jackson. King was AA ruck in his early twenties but body fell apart. Ottens was recruited as a forward and ends up #1 ruckman due...
Adam Kingsley certainly didn't make a mistake leaving Richmond for the Giants.
Bigger sliding door than the two players.
If only for Richmond Hardwick figured out he was burnt out at the end of the previous season instead of a few games in.
The answer is marketing w***ers
Every club employs a different group of marketing w***ers who advise the club to be branded differently
The teams that existed before marketing w***ers really took hold generally have no team moniker in the branding
Exceptions being the Bulldogs who changed...
It definitely is for Geelong. Glad we are not playing this week. Our R1 opponent doesn't either so we are not really affected by it. Can understand people being pissed if their R1 opponent has already played to knock the rust out though. Not fair at all.
It would be like a Hodge to Brisbane or someone like that probably where they only traded them for pick 80 or whatever to get them where they wanted to go
Will he go back to the state league and do the graft to get another chance? Stengle went back to the SANFL and kicked 50 odd goals to get a lifeline.
Would think he would have to at least do that to tempt someone. Drug possession offence for Stengle is in isolation, alleged offences against...
Big players easy but you'd need to pick young guys like Connor O'Sullivan and equivalents from other clubs rather than spud rucks like Soldo or slow arse forwards like Dixon who would offer nothing outside their primary position.
Chequered history and all but the Saints unsettled off field, wasn't long ago they sacked their recruiting manager. Someone is throwing their weight around, I wonder who.
People have posted his pressure stats on the Geelong board before and they are actually pretty good. The stats show that he tries but he doesn't have the closing speed of a Gary Rohan for instance to be effective at actually turning it over. Given that it is a physical limitation rather than...
Henry's output just judged on goals is a weird one for me. The oh but he kicked 40 goals is clinged on to far too much for mine. He could kick 30 goals next year and have a far better season if he sticks his marks around the ground.
