This weekend I came across a special offer from CommSec whereby you get a cash account (complete with debit card, bpay, etc), an investment account paying 3% (+1% for limited time) and pay no monthly account fees - in fact they give you $5 a month for the promotional period, plus $600 free...
Contrary to the theme of this thread, money isnt a great concern of mine travelling o/s... I just want to try something different... although it could build my career it doesnt have to.
The plus will be that I will be qualified when I get back so then I can land a nice job at that point... or...
I think anyone looking to get ahead have it made for them in WA. Its hard to turn your back on... if it is as good as it sounds, unfortunately I'm not a tradie... no doubt there are professional jobs but they probably arent pulling the same money it would seem these days!!

Yeah it seems to be the best way to go. I think what holds a lot of people back is the general security of staying in the one job... which is understandible.
But if you have reasonable experience and/or qualifications I find it really hard to believe that it would be that hard to find...
I'd suggest its no universal however as many of my friends who didnt go past year 10 makes the same, if not more than me.... or used to... so it still took me 3 years... even though I had the degree to get ahead. (starting 8 years behind once you factor in 11, 12, 3 years uni, 3 years work)

Since I came on here a bad mouthed what I was getting I thought I better post an update and say I just got a 26% pay rise and am now on a total package of $46k... $42k excluding the super with about 2.5 to 3 years experience, unqualified.
I am happy with this, maybe the Big 4 firms are coming...

Personally I've been an accountant for 2.5 years and i'm on about $34k which is pretty lame. (they advertise the salary including super, ie. $37.5k)
