Rookie list sizes for the 2011 season?

I guess that the question becomes - is Cribbin an Irish citizen? If he is he is, he counts as an Irish rookie and comes onto the list and if not he's an International scholarship holder. It seems we may have found a loophole in the rules to pick up Cribbin as an International rookie.

Rookie list sizes for the 2011 season?

Thanks Vader. But that poses some other questions for me. I was under the impression: 1) that International rookies were only outside the rookie list in their 1st season (McNamara is in his second season). 2) that Irish rookies (Cribbin) do not count as International rookies and take up a spot...

Rookie list sizes for the 2011 season?

I'm wondering if anyone can shed light on what rookie list sizes will be for the 2011 season (excluding the GC). There seems to be some contradictory information from the AFL players rules document for 2010 and the AFL website. The AFL player rules document 2010 suggest a maximum...

Your club - How many Draft selections / Rookie promotions

Retired: O'Bree, Rusling, Lockyer, Medhurst Traded: Fraser Delisted: Corrie, Barham, Cook, Blight (senior), Francis & Carter (Rookie) --> Not official yet but seems almost certain. Possible retire: Prestigiacomo This is how I see Collingwoods draft situation panning out. The variables...

CONFIRMED: #4 Krakoeur, Ceglar and picks 55, 78 and 95 to Collingwood for pick 25 to Gold Coast

We have made massive cuts to our list this year. The Fraser deal tips the total to 11 as it stands. Retired: Rusling, O'Bree, Lockyer, Medhurst Delisted: Barham, Corrie, Cook, Blight, Carter, Francis (not all confirmed by the club but seems likely) Traded: Fraser Theres also a lot of rumour...

    3rd Year Rookies

I was always confused about whether they added the third year for rookies so cheers for clarifying it in this thread. On the rookie rules there was talk the AFL would loosen the rules to allow an extra 2 rookie spots (from the current 6) and also the provision of 2 mature age rookie positions...

Did Ross get it right with Luke, by not trading him to Collingwood?

Hell no he didn't get it right. If he had been pragmatic he could have had either 30 and Goldsack OR 25 and 62. Anyway you look at it and he has lost Ball for nothing because he decided to play chicken and the pussy lost. And I hear "Oh, but he sends a message to the players and other clubs that...

Luke Ball nominates essendon and collingwood as his prefered destination

From Giovanni Gentile "For the Fascist, everything is within the State and ... neither individuals or groups are outside the State. ...For Fascism, the State is an absolute, before which individuals or groups are only relative" I was merely making a reference to a persons rights which some...

Luke Ball nominates essendon and collingwood as his prefered destination

So Luke Ball should change his tactics because the AFL 'might' tighten the rules because of his actions?? Tighten them to force players to undertake interviews and medicals?? The very thing people in here are suggesting he does - against his wishes - to avoid it becoming mandatory?? Do you see...

Luke Ball nominates essendon and collingwood as his prefered destination

Obviously we did. The distinction being we did so during trade week when we were interested in trading for him. We, nor Ball, were to know at the time that the trade would be scuppered like it was. It's not like it was an intentional ploy at the time to get him for free - we obviously wanted him...

Luke Ball nominates essendon and collingwood as his prefered destination

Thats starting to go a bit too far. The rules are already massively restrictive and tight as it stands. Forcing players to undertake medicals against their wishes is wrong. I've already said it but it's an issue of civil rights. I don't think anyone should be forced to do that. I'd be very...

Luke Ball nominates essendon and collingwood as his prefered destination

Not really, i'm just saying his actions are within the rules so it can't be considered draft tampering by the AFL or anyone else as the rules stand. Thats distinct from it being outside the spirit of the rules. No doubt he is doing what he can to get to his club of choice - whether anyone thinks...

Luke Ball nominates essendon and collingwood as his prefered destination

So what. The rules are restrictive enough as it is. Are you suggesting we should start forcing players to undergo medicals and interviews with clubs?? That idea is ridiculous for so many reasons!!! I'm glad some people have found something to hang their argument on though. Against the spirit of...

Luke Ball nominates essendon and collingwood as his prefered destination

But thats the point, it's within the rules of the draft not to speak to clubs or give them medicals. Even prospective draftees can refuse to speak to clubs or give them medicals if they choose not to. All Ball is doing is using any means he can to get to Collingwood within the rules of the...

Luke Ball nominates essendon and collingwood as his prefered destination

I don't think Bradshaw has said anything like that since trade week though. He is allowed to say those things in trade week, if he said them after nominating for the draft it would be draft tampering. The difference is - and you're right it is somewhat hypocritical - is that Bradshaw is only...

Luke Ball nominates essendon and collingwood as his prefered destination

No it's not. It isn't against the rules not to speak to a club, or give them medicals. It may be percieved that way but isn't against the rules or draft tampering to do this. Being made to give medicals or medical information against someones will is civil rights issue and Ball is well within...

Luke Ball nominates essendon and collingwood as his prefered destination

That would still be immoral - and in the end is still not a real medical report. Also pull the other one on draft tampering. Refusing to pick up the telephone and give medicals to clubs he has absolutely no interest in joining is hardly draft tampering. He hasn't said no to any clubs, and he...

Luke Ball nominates essendon and collingwood as his prefered destination

It would be very immoral of StKilda to give away medical information of one of their former players, in fact i'd question whether it's even legal. It's usually a condition of most employees that any medical information you give them is confidential. I really get sick of people talking about Ball...

Luke Ball nominates essendon and collingwood as his prefered destination

Thats true but it's still not a medical. In all likelihood Luke Ball is fit enough to play for atleast a few seasons but until a club gets the benefit of undertaking a medical a club in all conscience can't know definitely - let alone know the details of his condition. It's due dilligence to do...

Luke Ball nominates essendon and collingwood as his prefered destination

Exactly, it would be an assumption. A professional organisation would not (or shouldn't anyway) just make an assumption based on the perception Collingwood has passed him for a medical. They wouldn't be doing their due dilligence if they didn't look at him personally. It would be an enormous...

Luke Ball nominates essendon and collingwood as his prefered destination

The biggest sticking point I see in any of Brisbane, Essendon and Melbourne selecting him in the ND is the fact that they havn't had the benefit of doing a medical on him. Regardless of anything else it would be a massive risk to select a player with Luke Balls injury history without first doing...
