she hasn’t lived in japan since she was 3 and can’t fluently speak japanese. while obviously a great sportsperson in a non-traditional olympic sport - seems like an activism driven appointment made for the US and the western world. be interesting to see what the japanese ppl think.

Of course funding is a factor. But it's impossible to tell how much it contributed to their wins. They aren't just scraping home they are obliterating opposition. I think it would be unfair to claim that funding/technology is responsible. The winning margins are just too great. You'd have to...

Because they're paid with taxpayer money most likely. And for the majority of people here in Australia, track cycling medals every 4 years aren't that important. Sure, we'd like to win as many as possible, but I doubt we're going to be paying cycling coaches $XXX,XXX. GB have a better funding...

Sick plunge on Schmitt there in the 30-seconds pre-race. Pelligrini very disappointing, had a little bit of money on her.

She marginally outperformed him over one half of one leg. He would have smashed her if she was racing next to him from start to finish. No-one is saying she is 100% clean, but she deserves the presumption of innocence. I'm sure she'll be tested thoroughly now every man and his dog has cast a...

Just saw an interview with Dawn Fraser on the news. Came off as very bitter and pretty strongly implied that the 16yo Chinese was on drugs. People need to show a bit of class and say something along the lines of 'it was a great swim, we've seen nothing like it before'. Until there's proof of...

The missile's being buying into too much of his own hype I think. Not shaving down (whatever that means) for this race, surely you'd be doing all you could for a team event.
