His answer to resolve the immediate problem. I don't see him admitting there is an infrastructure problem, we are not in the know with the third party testing results. So I'll take his word on that.
What he has said, is that there is a problem (small imo, I've used IE7 on this site and it's...
HBT you're ignoring what Chief has been saying specifically the following
I don't know if you understand the enormity of the problem, it's not as simple as changing a few things around. My undeducated guess on the situating is the problem would mainly lie with the bloating of the original...
Do you understand how the browsers work? IE7 is a piece of crap, for starters it doesn't comply with web standards, how it translates css is terrible and incorrect a lot of the time. The DOM is horrible and javascript is very slow.
Add that to the fact that bigfooty isn't like your 'standard'...
I noticed Chief was updating the links on the top of the page for tipping, sx and grand prize. Messed up for me a couple of times.
Pretty sure he was messing with css (the presentation of the page) anyway he looks done....so it should be fine now.
Well most people complain about it being slow, yet never do anything about it
Having a bit of experience in the area, IE7 is a very poor browser for a couple of different reasons.
Are you talking about IE8
If you're one of the majority of imbeciles still using IE7, upgrade to IE8 now.
Much better browser than IE7, or do the smart thing and go to firefox or chrome
Yeah, that's how I came on to the tipping initially....but the tipping badge certainly stands out. Maybe because it is a new feature in an area of the page that rarely changes it stands out more (for now)
Also the tipping profile page is a really good idea
Get a better computer or Internet connection :D
Aside from when the server is busy the site is rarely slow for me. I've used it at home and uni the only connection I get between slow loading is with a crappy computer.
I'm not sure, don't know how bigfooty has it's script set up. Pretty strange, but it's probably something pretty simple.
the time bigfooty has now is correct, so maybe this is fluctuating
Re: Big ugly advertising banners
What's the big deal? Unless you're using a 3 inch screen it shouldn't be a problem. Even so you realise this is how the site generates revenue. the first 25 pages of a tabloid newspaper is at least 40% ads, deal with it :)
The idea is good.
The implementation at this stage is terrible.
At the end of the day you're here to make money, and most of us are using this site for free.
IMO the site needs a better feel to it, the aesthetics are particularly boring for such a large website. (btw I'm studying multimedia...
