I admire your lateral thinking! :)
Some of it is probably unrealistic though eg. “build an airport by the ocean” - might be useful for the next pandemic, not sure if you have enough time or workers to build an airport within a couple of months, for this current situation.
Of course the...
It sounds great in theory but I think you’re making one big assumption that this is a guarantee that this will eradicate the bug.
A lot of potential loopholes that may not go according to plan. Examples:
- assumption that everyone from international travel will obey the 2 week quarantine
-...
It’s a constantly evolving plan based on how poor our economy is travelling relative to public stress levels relative to the infected rates of morbidity/mortality each week.
The plan is probably more like a balancing act between the key factors as mentioned above.
I just want to clarify, “total lockdown” for 6 weeks and we “wipe it out”. Are you assuming that the borders will still be shut or no more international fights for the rest of the year?
I don’t believe the lockdown was ever to totally eradicate. Corona viruses have existed prior to Covid19, and it seems more plausible to likely exist for many more years.
Initially my gut feel was for the lockdown to help reduce rapid spread throughout the community, so to help our health...
You can’t extrapolate eradication potential when we’re currently in a lockdown. The figures of minimal cases should be expected. It’s what happens after the lockdown that’s when we can tell more about eradication potential.
Not to mention more stress may result in more mental illness and/or suicides. We are limiting the detrimental effects of the Covid19, but at what detrimental costs to our society?
Not quite an easy formula!
The formula is about saving lives (lockdown/prevention of transmission) versus a general effect on the public (economy and mental wellbeing). How long is the lockdown period to be at a right equilibrium?
I’ve come to the realisation that using the formula above. No one will agree with the next...
I think I see where you're going with this line of thought. Though I still disagree :)
What you're talking about is one form of depression where it's linked with certain personalities, and this leads to a susceptibility in having clinical depression. This most likely is related to your genetic...
I think you're looking at it from the wrong vantage point. Depression is the end-result of our brains being overworked/overthink, and we then get a cluster of symptoms which suggests to clinicians or surrounding families/friends that we "need to have a break".
I don't believe depression is a...
Not sure what you're trying to ask, but it serves the body a purpose by enforcing you to rest up, and not do much else. It also allows others to leave you alone or give you more empathy (unless the person is a narcissist). Without "clinical depression", then you're just a "happy person feeling...
Here's my take on depression, and hopefully it gives you guys an idea of what it is:
Depression is the state your mind is in, and it gives off signs in the body/cognitive functions that it "wants a break".
Depression is either from external causes (circumstances causality) or internal causes...
For those who keep regurgitating the line "this thread is s**t/poo/manure", let me get this straight...
- you're ok when members say "player X is soft/piss weak", "player X can't play, can't kick"
- you're ok when members talk about player X's family circumstances and all the latest gossip
-...
Not sure if you're serious or trying to be funny, but if you really care for their feelings, then why go on BF and spread opinions and rumours regarding footy players? :)
For anyone thinking on the negative, it's really about appreciating a player's general attributes of skills, looks and...
AFL - Tex Walker highly skilled for a big fella. Would love to spend the night with him to see how much hurt is still in the belly. Maybe few quick questions on the finer details of his relationship with Lever.
Good entertainment reading Mods, members and all!
I guess the OP title is more a rhetorical question. Wasn't really gonna ever get a definitive answer, was I? :)
Ok, this is nothing really to do with footy, but since this is the off-season, I want to discuss a serious issue that's been niggling at me since joining BF.
The issue is that whenever I talk health-related topics, there's always 1 or 2 morons who try to use their opinions to argue against...
