Richmond’s Shane Edwards has been dubbed a Shaun Burgoyne clone for his capacity to keep improving with age in a variety of roles.RECRUITING BLUNDER THAT DELIVERED TIGERS GUN
Richmond’s ‘Shaun Burgoyne clone’ will play his 250th game today, but Shane Edwards would have been at another club if not for a never-before revealed recruiting call at the 2006 draft.
anyone got this from behind the paywal?
Have dead set got a bit emotional reading all this stuff.. shedda is pretty much the epitome of what our club has become, a club we can all be proud of as members and a club that encourages our players, coaches and even administrators to be who they are as people and also to play to their strengths when going to work. Until 2017 Shane was always a bit of an enigma, he divided opinion within our supporter base, and at times probably even within the coaching group but since he has been given the license to play how Shane Edwards plays he has been majestic, a pleasure to watch, off field he is the guy you want your daughter to marry and the bloke you want your son to befriend when he gets drafted to the richmond footy club. I tip my hat to you shedda, a legend of our footy club and a true richmond man.
How was that goal from outside the ark
I remember when Sheds was recruited some of the BF recruiting 'gurus' said that he was hard to place … because he thought much faster than other junior players. He'd do stuff that was so clever and fast that other players just didn't even know what he was doing. SO some draft watchers thought he fairly ordinary cause he'd miss targets. Others thought he might be genius (including KM) but they couldn't be sure because he was playing with kids that just couldn't keep up.
In the end he is a genius and now he's playing in a team that can (sort of) keep up with his genius we all realise how good he is.
Absolute champion - as a man and player
KM? Knightmare? Pretty sure 2006 was well before he started posting
Weaver tho had him at 10 or 11 from memory. Although he also had Connors in top 10 and Jack in the 40s or 50s or something.
My memory is quite likely off.
Actually it might have been that other Pies supporter who was a big name BF guru. Anyway, the better draft watchers reckoned Sheds had something special. others didn't see it.
Yeah I remember him but not his username. He posted mostly on another Pies forum, think he got a gig at some club.
At his best Sheda is playing a different game to everyone else. They're doing stuff that looks like hard work, he's just breezing through congestion and makes it look like an easy fun thing to do on the weekend. Legend!
