The NBA describe themselves as a global sports AND MEDIA business. I bet you can name more American basketball players than Australian cricketers.
And you will certainly see more Australian kids with Kevin Durant jerseys than Steve Smith jerseys.

I don't like basketball, but understand and appreciate its global popularity. I could only name Lebrom James as a current player.
But from what I can observe, the NBA is probably the most in-tune, savvy sporting league in the world at marketing and growing its brand. The EPL wouldn't be far behind, but it has legacy and other advantages that the NBA doesn't.
Agree that they're taking eyeballs, pocket money and playtime from kids away from cricket.

Yes, as a league, it runs pretty much over our summer.
If by savvy and in-tune you mean taking millions of dollars from China and having a GM fired from his job for speaking out against what China did to Hong Kong then sure.

I dont think that's what the poster meant.
But there is a point. Millions of sporting products affiliated with the NBA, and other sports or brands, are made in China. And they probably dont want to piss off the country. They also have teams play games in China as well. Just like the AFL once tried. Actually, if you think about it countries, leagues and people, if fair dinkum, should've boycotted and boycott any product or service emanating from China.

No. The bloke doesn't deserve his own radio show, riding solo. Lacks empathy, especially with callers. So many people have rung in talking about ticketing issues, but this pleb doesn't give a *. He's an AFL lacky.

My NBA comment from earlier this week doesn't just apply to SEN, watching the golf this arvo Warren Smith said something like "Cam Smith won't need to call a time out like an NBA coach would"
It is like a, see I am cool I watch NBA and I am with the in crowd, whadda ya mean you don't watch it, oh wow you ain't part of the in crowd then are you.
Whatta about them Warriors and Steph Curry and that 30point game Wednesday v the Pelicans and Lamarcus Harris or whoever.
KB had a good saying re basketball just cannot remember what it was.
Don't think he was a fan either.
Again I barely listen these days for various reasons but why wouldn't you at 245pm or 230pm each day between the long stretches of ad breaks have like a US scoreboard and give final scores and updates of NBA , NHL, MLB and NFL matches when applicable?
I could imagine Derrrrrrrrwayne especially rubbing one out talking about the NBA results.
Can't be any worse than him screaming out TROUT IS FROM WOODEND, HOW ARE YA TROUT? etc etc etc.

It's not my cup of tea but I'm just glad Taggs has a job and seems to have his life in order. Bad racefall led to total lack of mobilty, hence the weight gain and painkiller addiction. He's flying now in comparison.
