“Hurls had a shoulder reconstruction and he’s really at the end of his rehabilitation phase. He’s been training essentially fully with the group except for contact,” Rundle said on Tuesday.

“He’s at the end of his contact progressions now and should be integrating fully with the group within the next week or so.”

I would pick him over Rance for the simple fact he can go forward and kick goals.forwards must shit bricks when they line up against him he's a beast.

Don't get me wrong Rance is an absolute gun defender I just like players who can be flexible.

Hurley has been elite this year. Rance has shown just as good ability to shut his opponents down consistently over the past 2 years and provides just as important rebound (except for gif above us) while having Troy Chaplin as his partner instead of Hooker or Carlisle, both of whom are far superior to Chaplin.

Fair enough....I disagree FWIW....think Hurley is far superior by foot (is one of the few totally dual sided players in the comp) and has held up even after we started conceding cricket scores. Chaplin is ordinary but the Tiges play much better team defence than us across the park which affords Rance more protection than Hooker or Carlisle can as individuals. Pressure on the ball carrier is the best protection for a key back.

It's funny how Derm pointed this out reckon clubs will now make sure Rance doesn't edge players under the ball.
