A New Role:
2012 was set to be the year Lecca put his silky skills, elite disposal and first class footy smarts to good use in West Coast's midfield, There was a missing link in what was, on paper, a team of highly talented and improving youngsters, Worsfold knew the ailment, a young man by the name of Mark LeCras. After a very strong pre season he had bulked up and spent a lot more time training with the midfielders. Of course he would still be kicking bags in the forward line, but this was the time for him to shine in the middle...

The Anterior Strikes Back:

Newspaper headlines came spinning into the frame from all directions
"Lecras out for season" "Huge blow to Eagles" "WA experience deadly floods from the tears of grown men"
On a date that will be remembered as BLeCk Friday, an ordinary training session 2 days before the Eagles first match of the 2012 NAB Cup opener, Mark LeCras had ruptured his ACL. An injury that would remove him from AFL for the entire 2012 season...

Return of the Dead Eye:
On the eve of the 2013 AFL season and the start of the Eagles Pre Season training, Lecca is back training the house down (albeit a dolls house compared to Masto's) and is ready to fire. He has been back up and training since August 2012 and itching to get back out on the park. So, as our new season approaches, now is the time to sit back, get comfy and enjoy...

20th December 2012
West Coast Eagles website
"The highly skilled forward did not play a game in 2012 after sustaining a pre-season knee injury which required reconstruction. Should make a seamless return to the field in time for the 2013 season where his clean hands, clever ball use and goal accuracy will be put to good use."

18th January 2013
Matt Gepp
"New recruit Sharrod Wellingham joined Mark LeCras in converting some impressive shots from the Patersons Stadium pocket before retreating to the change-rooms."

3rd February 2013
Scott Burns
"Said forwards Mark LeCras and Josh Hill were both capable of pushing up the ground, while defender Sam Butler could also fit into the midfield mix at times."

"We've got LeCras coming back from injury and we know that he's played some A-grade games in the midfield, so he's certainly got the capabilities."

WEST Coast forward Mark LeCras will play at least one of Saturday night's NAB Cup matches against Fremantle and Geelong at Patersons Stadium in his anticipated return from a knee reconstruction.

The star goalkicker, who ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee 12 months ago, could even be used in both shortened clashes, according to coach John Worsfold.

LeCras poised to play

http://www.westcoasteagles.com.au/news/2013-04-08/lecras-poised-to-play

"Brilliant West Coast forward Mark LeCras is a chance to play against Melbourne in Saturday’s clutch game at the MCG.
Just a fortnight after he fractured his forearm against Fremantle, LeCras has been listed as a “test” for this week’s game against the Demons."

You have to give him credit for playing, and playing well, with an injury.

Likewise you have to respect how he's come back from a knee without skipping a beat.

I really like LeCras because you can tell he's a good player as a result of how hard he works to have the best skills and the cleanest hands. His game isn't built on being a freak athlete but rather hard work.
