I have been remiss in creating this thread. Had to count to 10 ... billion.

Welcome Jakey. If you can perform at your best, you may just help GWS win a flag!

Experienced forward Jake Stringer has become a GIANT on the final day of the 2024 Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period.

The GIANTS completed a trade with Essendon on Wednesday, sending pick 53 to the Bombers in exchange for the explosive forward.

Known for his explosive and dynamic playing style and goal-scoring ability, the 30-year-old has penned a two-year deal with the GIANTS which will take him into his 13th AFL season. Originally drafted to the Western Bulldogs via pick five in the 2012 AFL Draft, Stringer played 89 games for the ‘Dogs, including the 2016 Premiership, before joining the Bombers at the end of 2017 where he has since played 123 games.

Over the years, he has established himself as one of the league’s most electrifying forwards, capable of turning games with his agility and precision. Stringer played all 23 games for the Bombers in 2024, kicking 42 goals and ranking above average in disposals (12.7 per game) and marks (3.9), just shy of his career-best numbers. With 212 games experience, the 2015 All-Australian will bolster the GIANTS as they look to claim their maiden premiership.

GIANTS Executive General Manager of Football, Jason McCartney, welcomed Stringer to the club. “We are delighted to welcome Jake to the GIANTS,” McCartney said. “We identified Jake as someone that has the ability to be a match winner and after undergoing a thorough recruitment strategy, we believe he will add great value to our team. Having watched Jake’s career closely from the beginning, I’m very excited about his potential to thrive up here in Sydney in the GIANTS environment.”

Boom Recruit Fired Up For GIANTS Debut

Jake Stringer has an inkling his best is yet to come as the star GIANTS recruit prepares to make his club debut against a red-hot Hawthorn outfit.

Having overcome a hamstring injury, Jake Stringer is ready to show what he can do when he plays his first game for the GIANTS. The addition of the former Essendon forward means GIANTS coach Adam Kingsley will have a stacked attack at his disposal as the two sides play for early title favouritism in Launceston on Saturday night.

Stringer, who kicked 367 goals across 212 games for the Western Bulldogs and Bombers, will link up with reigning Coleman medallist Jesse Hogan after overcoming a pre-season hamstring injury. But the 30-year-old believes his move out of the Melbourne spotlight will help unlock his best.

"I hope so. I haven't played a game yet, so fingers crossed," Stringer said. "Just to come here, train, go home, not really talk about footy or go to a supermarket, and just be a normal human. It's nice to go to the beach with the kids and no one will even notice me. It's quite nice, actually. I've just tried to fit in here and do my best here. I'm just looking forward to what we can achieve as a group together."

OK, what Jake Stringer has shown since coming back from his mid-season injury is exactly what Kingers and the club would have been hoping for.

OK, with Jesse Hogan in doubt, it will be important for the Giants' finals hopes that Jake is good to go.

Also, I am impressed by him helping out the women's team - it certainly makes me look at him more favourably.

GREATER Western Sydney recruit Jake Stringer has been cleared to return from a hamstring strain in next Saturday's elimination final against Hawthorn, following a rehab block where the recruit has also been helping coach the AFLW forwards.

Stringer has been racing the clock to be fit in time for September but has transitioned back into full training over the past week, before being ticked off on Friday heading into next weekend's home final at Engie Stadium.

"I had a big session today. If I got through that, I was all clear for next week and could have a normal week and prepare to play. Got through that with flying colours, so I just need to recover well and hopefully be getting ready to play next week," Stringer told AFL.com.au on Friday.

Stringer has impressed many inside Greater Western Sydney with his attitude and commitment to helping others across both programs, including AFLW coach Cam Bernasconi and EGM of AFLW Alison Zell.

The 2016 Western Bulldogs premiership hero is mentoring Giants young guns Zarlie Goldsworthy and Madison
Brazendale, along with helping the forwards, running craft sessions and watching vision to give back to a club that has helped extend his career.

"I was at the club one weekend when they were playing a practice match and I just said a few things around doing things different," he said. "Cam asked if I'd be interested in helping guide those two. I was more than happy to get involved. I've been doing craft lessons with them and vision. I've certainly enjoyed that aspect of being able to help those two with their careers.

"For me it's not a big deal, they were just hungry to learn. Then they asked me to help with the forward line. I'm here if anyone wants to reach out to help the best you can. I'll do as much with them as they want. I just offered my support and help if it was needed. The girls have been wonderful in that, asking questions. I have definitely enjoyed it and gives me great interest in the team."
