Just want see what people's preferences are for the 2014 fixture.

For me round 1, with the excitement of Paul Roos on board and the debut of Jesse Hogan I hope we get a home game against another Victorian club to get the attendance numbers up, would be good to see the G packed for a Melbourne home game. Won't be Collingwood as I expect we'll play them on Queens birthday, won't be Carlton or Richmond as they'll be playing each other, unlikely we'll be given Hawthorn or Geelong in round 1. So Essendon, North Melbourne, Western Bulldogs or St Kilda, I would be happy with either of them and I would be going to the game thinking we could win, traditional Saturday afternoon game.

honestly doubt it will be against a vic club, kinda think we will get two against swans and lions respectively

There is a new criteria being placed on playing teams twice a year, bottom 6 teams can only play 0 or 1 top 6 teams twice. Sydney and GWS will play each other twice which would rule us out of playing Sydney twice.

I thought i read it as one top 4 side and a bottom side can play each other twice?

My wish for round 1 would be a home game against Essendon, we don't get home games against them very often, so surely we are due one, and I reckon if it was a 2.10 Saturday game or even a Saturday night game, it could pull 55-60k.

I think they are splitting it into 3 groups, top 6, mid range (7-12), bottom 6. Each group has a minimum and maximum of teams they can play twice from other groups,

Top 6: 2-3 other top 6 teams, 1-2 mid range teams, 0-1 bottom 6 teams.

Mid range: 1-2 top 6 teams, 2-3 other mid range teams, 1-2 bottom 6 teams.

Bottom 6: 0-1 top 6 teams, 1-2 mid range teams, 2-3 other bottom 6 teams.

Sydney cannot play another bottom 6 team if they play GWS twice.

Top four team first week, come in with no expectations other then giving it a crack - don't want to play a Port-esque team like this year and have the bubble burst instantly.

I was thinking about this some more, and I feel it's been awhile since we had an away game in the opening round, could go down that path in 2014.

it would be nice to vs the dogs first up on a saturday arvo. i don't have much against playing brisbane again either they still manage to draw a crowd in melbourne.

but i have to agree with so many blockbusters likely to be in Melbourne it seems likely we will begin our 2014 season away. and if we are in melbourne a doubt we will play at the MCG.
