This is a kind of addition to the who is our best 22 thread. Given that there will be injuries, and that different situations require different players, who are our next six best players who are able to make a signicicant contribution? Do we actually have another 6 AFL ready players? Do we have the depth to survive a season? Can we survive the season and have an impact in the finals?
In answer to my question these are the players that I think may be at a "plug and play" stage of their careers (all apart from Warren, Drum and Campbell have AFL experience, );
Midfiled; MacManus, Peake, Dunn, Browne, Schoefield
Backs; Hayden (possibly in 22) Johnson, Murphy, Warren, Gilmore, Dodd, Haines, Webster, Drum (maybe)
Forwards; Murphy, Campbell
Ruck; Johnson, Warren
It seems pretty clear that we are going to struggle if anyone in the forwards or rucks have problems. Out of this group Hayden, Murphy, Peake, Dunn, Dodd, and Johnson seem the 23-28. Of course this depends on your best 22, but they are a reasonable group for mine.
