1. Bryce Gibbs has me questioning my sexuality.

2. Kreuzer and Hadley are crucial to our center bounce setup. I dunno how Stevens, Judd, Murphy and Gibbs can all fit in there given that Kruz and Rich need to be in there for every bounce. 3rd quarter against brissy when they were both being rested, we got slaughtered in the middle.

3. If there are no more injuries in the next 2 weeks (yes I touched wood), Carazzo may be playing a game or 2 for the bullies, cos I can't see how he gets back in this side. It certainly won't be to replace Chris Johnson as he has possibly the best kick I have ever seen (put that down as 3a).

3 x things you learn't this week

1. If we don't fast track another key back man {or two} we're gonna be in more chit than Flash Gordon.

2. In the tough, fast, physical games the fittest team should prevail. As we proved last season our fitness is elite, so it should hold us in good stead through the tight games.

3. Mitch Robinson will someday captain the Carlton Footy Club.

3 Things I already knew confirmed:

1. Gibbs and Murph will catch Judd ... our darker years held them back from having such an immediate impact as Judd ... but they're catching him ... and at such an early age
2. Kruize will revolutionise the ruck position ... no ruckman has ever developed at his rate ... he will leave the club as it's best ever ruckman (and I understand the magnitude of this statement)
3. Houlihan, Waite, Betts, Thornton, Wiggins ... are better players in a good side ... and the Chief is a better option than Fisher

3 Things that caught me off guard:

1. I didn't think of it over the summer ... but you can really see the benefit of Judd and Hadley having played for a year now with Murphy, Gibbs, Kruize, Stevens and co, and the gains associated with their increased knowledge of each other. Some of the quick hands, blocks off the ball and general understanding of each other in the middle caught me by surprise. This improvement has had a large influence for our better output
2. Kruize's development in one year ... thought this would come late next year
3. Hadley's and Jamieson's influence ... seeing the Lions peg back our half time lead due to Jamo's injury reminded me of a similar thing with SOS back at Optus Oval when his injury meant a Chris Grant who hadn't touched it with SOS as an opponent, kicked 5 goals in the second half and almost won it. In short, we haven't had a good key defender we depended on like that for a long time

If you think that comeback was due to jamo's injury you need to watch that quarter again. We didn't win a center clearance, not a single 1. Rich and Black dominated in the middle, and Jacobs didn't win a single hit out. Once we got Kruz and Hadley back in there in the last quarter, it went back to the way it was in the first half, with us winning a majority of the clearances.
