Greater Western Sydney have recruited youngster Sam Reid to join fellow ex-Western Bulldogs player Callan Ward at the AFL expansion club. Reid, 21, has spent four years on the Bulldogs' list, but has played just 10 senior games, with much of his career so far spent battling numerous injuries. He was also last year diagnosed with diabetes.

Reid was delisted by the Giants at the end of the 2013 season, however he was then appointed a GIANTS Development Coach for the 2014 season.

. Reid was taken as an uncontracted player under the same rules as Scully Ward Davis and Palmer. We had to get special permission as it was supposed to be one player per club and we already had Ward. Dogs OK’d it and received a 3rd round pick in compensation - which they used on Josh Pruden in 2012 at pick 50.
