I have a large collection of music videos on my pc. The issue I have is that they all play back at different volume levels (in much the same way that you can get varying volume levels with mp3s) which is driving me bananas. I have unsuccessfully searched for a software solution to this problem (i.e. looking for a media player that will normalise the volume for video files rather than audio files). If anyone knows of a software solution please let me know, but I am now considering the idea of a hardware solution instead; namely, a limiter.
FYI, I run the sound out of my pc and into the aux. plug on my stereo. I don't know much about limiters, but I would assume you can get a hardware variety that would be plugged in somewhere in between the out socket on my sound card and the aux. plug on my stereo? Would this actually work, or am I suggesting something that's impractical? Any ideas on approximate costs and the best place/s to purchase?
